By the way, Warren's English is excellent, you could learn a word or two from him. Not to sound like an ass (I woukdn't be surprised if that's what you take me for) but since you're aspiring to get more reviews done, justifying all sorts of flaws should have its efforts put into learning instead. What if you get denied on a big one just because your formatting is not up to par? Would that not be vexing?

Ultimately, all I am saying is for you. If you still think you are doing well, do it your way. You are improving but ever so slowly. There are plenty of bad reviews on Head-Fi but I can't be bothered to pick on all of them. YOU are in AAMML so I am trying to help you, even in this busybody method as you certainly did not ask. All I will say is that since you are posting reviews on Head-Fi and that I should consider you a friend, I want your good reputation to rise and your bad ones to go away. People are reading, and the reviewer has the responsiblity for his own works. Why settle for worse when you can do better? Take it as you will. As the resident "labeled as an *******", I say it once again: this is for your own good, take it as you will or churn up your even better version of it. Dont be showing us half-baked writeups all proudly. Make us proud for this one or at least the next one.

Looking forward to it!
I actually had a long convesation with Warren on truthfully critiquing and offering me his thoughts on my reviews after your own.

He basically had no problems with my reviews right now, and saw it as my own style

BUT, he did critique it in that I use too many words for the same idea. And that I should be showing not telling, and to produce more consice ideas. That will be done in my BW Delta review later in the week or next week.
I actually just read through the first few sentences of the review, and I don't quite like the sentence fluency and grammarz. XD

Introduction:

Fischer Audio unveiled its new triple balanced armature IEM recently and the press’s went wild. FA has been known to be a great value audiophile company for a long time now. So many wondered if the TBA-04 was the same. Their full size studio line came out to glowing reviews, so is this the same? Today, Panda Tech Review, gives you a look at the Fischer Audio TBA-04. Let’s see how it is.

Notice- This is a unit provided to me by Fischer Audio.

When Fischer Audio (FA) recently unveiled its triple balanced-armature earphone, the press went wild. Having a well-established reputation in the audiophile community, FA is known for their good bang-for-the-buck audio products. Upon the announcement of the TBA-04, many people wondered if it would live-up to the the same value and sound quality as their full-sized studio headphones. Does the TBA-04 meet the expectations set by FA's full-sized headphones? Today, Panda Tech Review gives you a look at the Fischer Audio TBA-04. Let’s see how it is.[/quote]

IMO, too long for a introduction for an Internet review. Might work better on specialist magazines but still a handful to read.

Hard to rewrite with my phone atm. Can try to condense it when I get home.

I wrote the intro while listening to the millionaire guest speaker. Yeah. The intro needs to be fleshed out.

Thank you for that suggestion smily_headphones1.gif

Thanks Warren-tan!

Still working on style, among other things now.

Yup, it feels wrong to criticise a review, because a review is a service to the community, but that's where we step in. :p

I'm going to bust your chops until the video quality is up to snuff. ;)

I'd help you if I could... but I use a mac too... don't you install cygwin with setup.exe?

on any unix-based/like systems you use gcc like this:

gcc path_to/file_name.c -o path_to/output_file

I just officially joined my uni's Robocon team!
Not that we have any chance of winning due the lack of support from our faculty, but I'm gonna learn how to use the ARM Cortex-M3, some basic mechanics and programming embedded systems! tis' gonna be fun and useful in my future projects :D

Yes. But while it is good to approach constructive criticism in a gentle tone (against the children type it is super effective! half the time), it does become the same reason we get spoiled brats in this world. Warren, you're too nice to him! He'll never grow up; the kid's an adult, let him man up! If he can only take kind words of encouragement (which may have negative impact on his growth and ego) but not reprimand ("because this person is rude! so I won't listen to him"), then he is still a child and a child should not have to burned himself with responsibilities greater than unboxing videos. Have you seen the number of times he mentioned your name to justify his own means? I may as well scrutinize his final statement in the matter:

You gave an okay; all is thus well and further criticism are now invalidated. That's how Bowei rolls, and we all know it.

BUT, he did critique it in that I use too many words for the same idea. And that I should be showing not telling, and to produce more consice ideas. That will be done in my BW Delta review later in the week or next week.

Sounds awfully lot like "I'll do it next later/I'll do it later", which I'll just hope wasn't said just to brush the imminent issue aside. This guy does have a backlog of reviews---which does not help that given the quality of his writeup (nothing regarding content), feels like quick half-baked work just to get things done.

In any case, I also have trouble with cluttering. And I'm not quite bright enough to settle all my thoughts into one-two phrases that get straight to the point. deadly is good at that, and I aspire to his way with words. While I was slowly typing my last reply on my tab, he basically on-upped me on what I wanted to say, in less than one fifth in length. AND make it sound nice to boot.

Bref, if I borrow an audiophile concept to finalize my thoughts it would be "Quality over Quantity". If it's the backlog that gets in the way of improved quality, then don't rake in review units like that. That is my end to the take since it's not very effective...

P.S. I like Pandas but Panda-modoki is not the same! This one is too lean and his skin is too smooth to be a panda. If lazy + lean was to be animalified then it would be a sloth rather than a panda. (bowei, lean and fit is a good thing, don't get fat)

Woah, nice! What projects are you gonna be working on that involve ARM though?

I think that this is playing largely into assumptions.

One thing you may not realize is that I don't elaborate on my thoughts in this thread.

After getting some criticism, I decided to try some friends like Warren and Tracy for brutal honesty and criticism as well. At the time of writing the above post on my writting style. Only Warren was contacted. He gave me some advice and so I went with it.

You were still going on about my reviews so I decided to use Warren as someone that offers a different point of view.

By no means, if you were to know me better, do I roll on through the idea of 'one person said its ok so it's all ok now'. Warren's own criticism and help was mearley an idea that I was presenting to show that others had a different view style.

I didn't write it, but I was of course taking all criticism to heart and thinking of ways to change my writing style, and on what topics to change or keep.

The review writting is quick yes. About 1.5-3 hours worth of writing and formating the entire review from start to finish before posting it. I do and have often pondered, and thought about how 'my system' works. I have studies and other things first. I'm still talking with Tracy and Warren and listening to criticism in this thread so I may confront it. I'm just doing mental ideas right now. The physical writing will have to wait.

I have mentioned this, but I have cluttered, adjective ladded reviews that elaborate way too much(often to no help) because of what just happened here. I go somewhere, and post a summary of my thoughts. Quick, snappy, and in 10 seconds. I hit submit and go back to what I was doing. Next thing I know, I get posts criticising my initial post or something down the line because of some detail in it. I personally know and have thought of that detail. I just didn't write it down. That cycle continues and is why some of my more recent reviews feature extensive cluttered elaboration.

I'm cutting all that down. Warren gave me some good advice yesterday. Where, I have a style, and am a reviewer. Thus I will need no elaboration on 'why' I personally as a reviewer am doing something. This idea of course only applies to review testing, sonic results section where I don't elaborate on reference comparison or if I have a golden ear or not. Obviously, criticism is still exremely open, and is something a reviewer needs. With that idea down, I'll be talking to some more people soon on if I should utilize that style, where I cut down on elaboration by using a "Reviewer Mandate' or something.

For the most part, I don't get angry at people. I just respond back in a calm, manner.

I'd be delighted to review anything pettanko or oppai-licious that is sent my way :)
