Bloody panda stop diluting my meaning in my post! Moe + ecchi is more worse than just stand alone moe or ecchi, although most often than not, nowadays it is mostly moe + ecchi. Hell I'd argue that even Wrestling Anime PoS has moe in its design by incorporating the dumb idol shtick becoming wrestlers.
Moe for moe's sake is something I can stand. New show example: non non biyori. Although that said most are kind of too ppintless for me to care. Mostly because, I feel that they /must/ include even an iota of ecchi.
Something must be said though on the damage that kind of anime has done to tamer moe heavy shows though. It now forms a preconceived idea that /all/ shows like that is bad, with pedophilic focus.
Okay, I'm rambling off course now.
Moe and ecchi tropes are tools, like screwdrivers, chainsaws and guns. You can use them to create something about family values or growing up, or exploring sexuality in a mature way, or what it means to express oneself and not conform to norms, or you can create something with base intentions like 'family stories' with heavily implied incestous molestation of underaged conveniently-discovered-to-be step-daughter(s)/-sister(s), or not even half baked, stillborn pointless strip tease that even some porn has better story and a great bonus that thye have actual sex.
I do have some more point to elaborate on like how there seems to be more flat characters that hardly have any character growth other than the dumb yearning to get the bland Yuji Everylead's penis, or how character art designs have a set checklist to fulfill for LNs, anime, manga. Alas, poor jgray91, he is short on time (and battery).
