Stupid traffic engineers. Is there any point to a metered ramp system? You force cars to stop when the flow of traffic is just fine, wasting time and fuel efficiency, and when there is a stopped flow of traffic, it causes a huge backup of cars anyway since the cars have a hard time merging into traffic.
I actually wouldn't mind working in that sector just to be able to fathom why people fail so hard at it.
It shouldn't be too difficult to build a good mathematical model of traffic and to use that to clear it up.
Yeah, tell me about it...
It amazes me that the local city mayor wants to add more "bike lanes" to the streets when they can't even get the normal vehicle lanes correct in terms of traffic flow. Oh well, I guess we need more "law abiding" bicyclists to screw up traffic even further.
