Crazy, right?

I'm not a person who re-watches movies/shows (very rarely) and I also have better things to do than always keeping an eye on my torrent ratio. German law is pretty brutal when it comes to torrenting and such.

Look at Mr. Goody two shoes..... Haha j/k, In my youth I was quite a pirate myself.... when you have a lot to lose, you kind of find other legal means to get it done.

Most streaming sites aren't legal anyways, so it's no different than torrenting other than the obvious. How is Crunchyroll some legal gray area thingy with their simulcast? Isn't that mutual agreement with the studios in Japan? Then how about Hulu? Or Daisuki.net? They have simulcasts too.

Weeee, so earlier today, I bought my 7 tickets for the Madoka Magica Rebellion showing on Dec 8, 11:30PM at the Big Cinemas Manhattan! Gonna have pretty much nearly all of my closest friends going with me that night. So excited! Too bad I couldn't get the Friday tickets; the sale just popped up so suddenly and they were already sold out ;(

Anyone else going to to the theaters to watch Madoka?!

Hmm? Are you over the age of 25?

Anyway, most anime we donwload isn't pirating in a sense.

Just like how companies use legal loopholes. We are as well.

The mass majority of anime we download on AT or and to a slightly lesser degree of older ones are not lisenced in the USA. OR, companies that once lisenced them (ADV or Funimation or Toei etc) either went bankrupt OR never renewed their lisences. Stimulcasts that Crunchyroll are doing now are in a very big gray area.

Did a bit of digging around myself, albeit only 5 minutes. Still can't see it as a 'big gray area'. The first licenses that they acquired are from TV Tokyo, Shueisha and Pierrot back in 2008. I don't think they'll stop doing that - getting licenses - since then.

May you step on a lego piece with your bare legs. You know people will be jealous.

Lol wat. Quote is different than what was displayed. I've stepped on a lego piece with my bare feet before. It hurts.

S1s might be an interesting listen. I DO still want clarity while not being harsh.

I had a whole bunch of stuff typed up, but then realised you probably aren't looking in the $400 range if you're looking at Dunu.

Never heard that someone here in Germany got sued for streaming stuff.
Well, maybe the people hosting this kind of website, but do I look like I care if they go to jail for providing me my animu?
Hell no!

I could probably swing $400 if I sold my UE900s and bought used.

Hmm, had to watch this video for my Informatics class:

Doesn't that look like something from a VN? :O

Aww. Wish you post it still though.

@soup person, tsk tsk tsk. Such shallowness. My concern is less of who is watching, but how the IP owner is affected, i.e. both torrenting and illegal streaming hurts the studios because they're not getting paid appropriately.

Never seen so many people watching his stream. Over 6969!

Only 18 hours until the release of The Stanley Parabel!
I also grabbed Scribblenauts Unlimited for 5€ on Steam ^^

He's become even more of a scum in JSmith (some of the stuff he did in Dark Souls).

JSmith is becoming the new Ohm in SpeedRunners...as long as he has textures. He does fairly well without textures. NL is getting better. Nick is the same.

They need Ohm and some others to get onto the stream more. People like Ohm, Cryotic, or RedPandaGamer seem to be becoming more and more distant sometimes from the NLSS.

I'll just stop promoting his awesome stream now.....

Yup. This isn't a place for advertising.

Awesome! Did you guys get tickets already?

And that art style looks REALLY familiar, with the head tilt. Maybe the artist from Tomoyo After...?

Let me just quote my favorite fairytale book here: "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her"

We are all experts in financially damaging anime studios here, aren't we? :P
(Me probably the least because my MAL list is so short)

Sure, whatever makes you feel morally superior than me; I'll do the same.

Would tell a lot about me if something like this makes me feel superior over someone :D
It's not the case though.
Torrent and stream the hell out of the internetz! I couldn't care less.
If something seems supportworthy to me, I'll support it somehow.
All of you are doing the same! Buying figurines and whatever merch is out there.
And torrent/stream-websites don't just popped up a year ago and still there are so so many anime studios out there. Maybe even more than ten years ago? Maybe.

Piracy isn't exactly the same as stealing, the producers of the content doesn't really lose anything as data is replicated, not taken.

Most people would not have paid for these things if it involved $60 for a version of the anime in a language they could not understand. Especially considering the translation work is often done by random groups who do it for basically free, the producers are not losing any profit. Plus this helps the brand image of the products spread, and other merchandise such as figures may see an increase in sales due to the increase in the popularity of the brand.

I do pay for my video games and dolls (ahem, collectable figurines) though.
