Idea Factory has announced that they have contracted Masahiro Yamamoto to lead a new RPG project for the PS Vita which will be published by Compile Heart in 2014. Masahiro Yamamoto was previously a long time Nippon Ichi developer who worked as the main programmer and a game designer on many lead titles starting from Disgaea 2, before leading the design and direction of recent Nippon Ichi titles such as Zettai Hero Project, Disgaea 4, and The Guided Fate Paradox.

This is a teaser of the design images from the new RPG he's working on for Idea Factory:

Edit: Update.

Japanese blogs picking up on this story have pointed out that there was a big Nippon Ichi scandal rumor on 2ch way back in June. Someone posted details about a mass exodus from "Company N" with the following details (I've filled in the blanks for obvious references):
Quote:
Mr.Y (Masahiro Yamamoto) who was in charge of D (Disgaea) and KP (KamiPara), along with almost all the development staff including the main programmer have resigned. The Executive Mr.K and the North American Corporate Head Mr.A, along with their subordinates have also left the company. The above mentioned are making something similar for Company I (Idea Factory).

Mr.K who worked on the D (Disgaea) spinoff D2 has also left the company with a subordinate who was working on the recently announced project A (Arcadias). They have joined Company M.

About half of the development team currently developing a game for the eternal next game protagonist A (Asagi) have also left the company. The project is at a stand still.

Considering the confirmation of the first part of the rumor, this sounds pretty bad for the future of the company.

Looks like a big hit for NIS. Wonder how it's gonna end up...

Looks interesting. Never really a Key fan but I might pick that up if I can finish Koikishi and Yumina the Ethereal....

Never heard of either of those games, but good luck!

In the 2 days I've played it I'm probably an hour in, or 5 minutes in if it was an anime adaptation T_T

Hah, PhD and well paid doesn't go in one sentence for any field.
Though people may whine about it as much as they do, it's still more than good enough for an adult to rent a small room and survive without worrying about not being able to drink a beer from time to time.
And sure, if after your bachelor's or master's degree you get a corporate job you'll probably earn more. But where's the fun in earning a lot of money? In the end the job is what you'll be doing the majority of your waking hours, so it'd better be fun.

Holy crap, you're less than a year older than me and yet you're way farther ahead academically than pretty much all of us!

About the PhD thing though, I'm pretty sure that doctorates in engineering and such would net you quite a bit of income once you find a job...

What do you mean by that Bowei?

Also, this is totally random, but how the heck do you actually say your name? I always pronounce it like Bowie (David or the knife)

Hehehe, apparently our anime club has a room, but they only store their manga in it. They play their torrented anime in the East Asia Studies lecture hall! :D

Well, looks like the new Perfume album leaked. I know there are fans here, but dunno if they know about the leak.

Actually, looked on the GAF thread for the album

This album is their best yet, imo

This is absolutely their best album yet. Became a fan after GAME, loveloveloved the hell out of Triangle, slightly disappointed in the single-heavy JPN, but LEVEL3 delivers in so many ways.

The girls' vocals are clear and all processing is kept to a minimum: this allows for the simple beauty of their voices to shine through Yasutaka's multitextured musical mastertracks. Favorite track so far might be "Clockwork," but it's ALL SO GOOOODDDD. Listening to "Dream Land" right now and it reminds me of Capsule. Absolutely gorgeous.

It depends on what you do with the PhD (i.e. academia or industry). The latter tends to pay more since it's business-oriented. The former is research-oriented at research institutions, such as a university and relies on grants to provide funding for their research.

This is pretty depressing...

"Boe-way"

If it's pronounced in Mandarin Chinese then it would sound more like "bwoah-way" since "o" sounds like "uwoah."

Bo, po, mo, fo - "bwoah," "pwoah," "mwoah," "fwoah."

Welp, so almost all of the Symphogear G character songs doesn't disappoint. Amazing purchases from me. Hell, even the ED singles album punches way above my expectations. And Ayahi Takagaki can sing English (that's right, not Engrish) pretty well. Just like Lisa Ono, if I dare make a comparison with another superb Japanese (that I know of) that can sing in English.

At least, this is what Symphogear franchise can bring you if you like Nana Mizuki level J-pop and don't care much for the plot of the series. Frankly, I'm on the Symphotrain for the music and the singing fights. The plot is kind of throwaway.

Oh and these:

Best. Reaction. Faces. Since Orange-kun in CG and other faces.

I know that feeling....
I'm not really sure if Sony is going to lower the price of the Vita when the PS4 gets released.

Cutting the budget of research facilities, schools etc. is the absolute worst thing a country can do IMO.
Your country is going NOWHERE if you slow down research and let your kids learn with textbooks from 1960.
That is just wrong in every possible way.

Just won Anomaly: Warzone Earth in NeoGAF giveaway. Nothing really big, but who doesn't like free games?
Interestingly, there were like 200 games to be won and the giveaway was operated by a bot. In 10 minutes it got over 700 requests, but can send only 3 PMs per minute and only because there are 3 forum accounts dedicated to that bot.
