I serious didn't expect to get this head phone at all... it literally showed up out of NOW where and I was give ONE day to make a review of it. He asked for a review by the end of the day. So I worked with what I had.
There's so much people taking review units to make a quick makeshift review and call it wrapped up. Figure it would be more efficient to start with a strict comment. Besides you weren't giving any better impressions with fluttery view on why burn in if not broken.

*facepalm* with this newly disclosed information I can't fault you at all. Wtf is all I can say. Sorry D:
Perhaps you should add a disclaimer regarding the one day time limit, it will give readers an idea of the limitations regarding this specific review.

I only review units that I actually want, not for the sake of reviewing it with a 3-day listen. Hence why I'm trying to write a proper review for all the gear I have.

I don't know how I would write a review for DAPs, but now that I've been using the iPod with THE Wolfson DAC, I think I can write my thoughts down more accurately.

Jesus, since when did everyone here become a reviewer? :p

Well none of the reviews I wrote till now had time limit or at least not such short one.
Meanwhile I can't really write any reviews for anything I own since most are DIY to some extent (like all my headphones actually). Not confident about reviewing amps yet even if I do hear the subtlety.

I think I will be building my own electrostatic headphones soon, you guys can be my guinea pigs. :)

I'm okay with that. At least if I'm not the maker I don't have my own bias.
Just remind me to dunk my head in the sink before testing them out biggrin.gif

EWW that's an IEM. And I'm not selling for Profit, I'm selling to afford to purchase another headphone. I've literally tried like 4 headphones this month on the sale of my K550 and JDS Labs C5, so the AD900X is going to help me purchase an HE 400, but ofc if you have HEADPHONES I'd be happy to trade [no iems plz]
You're not selling them for profit? How do you surmise that? eek.gif

When companies started offering free stuff, of course!

Yeah, same here... I only had a self-imposed time limit on the DUNU DN-23 review I did because I knew I'd be busy for the next 3-4 weeks afterwards and wouldn't have time to review them.

Do tell when you're ready to alpha test.

Yeah, that's going to be tough, the DIY ESL guys use air pressure and inner bicycle tire tubes to do the tensioning, I'll have to try that and see how it goes.

Ultimately, I want to build something that takes the best qualities of the SR-009 and the SR-007. And eventually, I hope to get good enough to tailor make headphones based on a person's preferred sound signature and comfort.

How hard can it be? :p

You also need to work in an Intel dust-free room. XD

But yeah I'd be willing to give them a shot. One of the local Head-Fiers made his own electrostatic headphone and "Blue Hawaii" amp. It actually sounded pretty decent. It had a HD650 warmness to it.

Most likely because it's waaay too easy to make them.

I want a pair that sounds like you Beats earbuds!

Hundreds actually. Electro stats are used in eco cleaning operations as the final phase in removing particulates from the output of gases before they go into the enviroment or into another tank

Yup, gonna have to DIY some kind of clean-room where I can work on the drivers. XD

The Stax replacement cables are only $140 or so (for the 007's, it's half that for the basic lambda cables), much cheaper than what I was expecting, so hopefully I can build the whole thing for less than 500 dollars.

The earcups will probably look like the 009's (machined aluminium), and I'll use the 007's design for the headband, as it's aesthetically pleasing, and seems simple enough to DIY.

The only problem is, dummy heads are seriously expensive, $8K for a Neumann one, I'm gonna have to find a cheaper way to reliably and accurately measure headphones. D:
