The key action is infinitely mre reliable, consistent, easy, and pleasing to the touch than a membrane keyboard. It's a night and day difference.

Mechanical keyboard are super loud, though. Don't take them into a library, if you're a skilled enough typist it will sound like you're rattling off a machine gun in the hall.

Okay!
My 5 year old Microsoft Office Keyboard I got for 40€ is anything but quiet...does that mean I have a mechanical one? :D
I can also pry off the keys :3

Mechanical keyboards sound like a pretty old concept...could it be that these things were standard back in the days and are now resurrected and sold for hype-prices? Just a wild guess.

Your keyboard is mostly likely not a mech :x. MS doesn't make any mech keyboards.

That's correct. Mechanical keyboards like the IBM model Ms and model Fs were standard back in the day. But of course when home PCs became more popular, rubber domes became standard because they were much cheaper to produce.

[something crappy] became standard because they were much cheaper to produce.

No surprise :D

I might have to try one to "feel" what all this fuzz is about, because right now, the prices look a bit steep :|

It's pretty awesome Tom. For me at least, I can't go back to a membrane keyboard after owning a mech one :D

They're a lot easier to type with (for me).

@gunner, I'm actually thinking about getting the quickfire pro TK with the brown switches (price is a lot better than the WASD ones I was looking at before and I like the smaller real estate of the keyboard). I just need to find a reason to justify buying it lol, maybe when I build a new computer I can use that as an excuse. Till then I'm stuck with my blackwidow :/

Is there any way to make your own wallpaper?

For now you can use Windows 8 Start Screen Customizer.

3rd party software obv.

Ah mmk. I'm fine with this wallpaper thingamabob now. :D

Too bad the right-most column blocks the hummingbird...

Any of you guys listen to OST's and the like? What are your favorite headphones for them?

I don't really listen to anime OSTs but K-ON is all right.

I use my trusty STAX SRS-2170 for such music since my dynamic headphones have annoying treble peaks.

8.1 adds this feature.

Yeah I saw that.

I though this was funny lol

More missing features
As I documented last month, the Windows Experience Index is gone, probably shot down in embarrassment at the low WEI score given to the Surface Pro. Facebook and Flickr have been eviscerated. I should probably say "defenestrated."

So let me tell you about mechanical keyboards... tongue.gif

Actually, do you want a quiet one that's completely linear? (My favorite! <3) Or a silent one with a small bump to know you've pressed the key, or a really loud and clicky one with a big bump? Also how much are you willing to spend? Would you be interested in alternative key sets? If so the price range on that as well?

Also, mechanical keyboards are my main hobby at the moment. wink.gif

You don't say :D

I'm not really interested in a new keyboard right now. My one works just fine and I'm happy with the way it "feels" :)
Oh and I really don't have the money for this right now :P
An iBasso DX50 and some trips to friends all around Germany doesn't pay for themselves!
My J3 is going up on ebay tonight :'(

Hmm why the pro TK? Do you need the numberpad? The quickfire rapid is a better buy if you don't use the numberpad imo.

Hmm... 55g topre? xD. Tactile, smooth, and not too loud. Are you on GH? I go by the same name there, but I rarely post there anymore.

Wonder what you do with those anyway? rolleyes.gif

I mainly use it when I'm in class. Very light, portable, and actually fits in the tiny "desks" in some classrooms. Also lets me read VNs while on the train but we all know how that turns out xD. I was reading Tsukihime in the airport earlier this year and...

Tsukihime spoilers (Click to show)
The CG/scene with Kohaku and Akiha doing the blood ritual in the cut-off house came totally unexpected.
Luckily no one was looking at my laptop, but it gave me a real good scare.
Haha, I KNEW you'd say VNs! tongue.gif
That's the only reason I'd be interested in a surface pro. But alas, I have an iPad that does just fine for the time being... smily_headphones1.gif

My lovely Realforce 87u 55g "Sakura".
Hmm, not sure I dig the color scheme tbh...
Ducky shine 2 with blue LEDs and blue switches right here!
Sure they feel a bit better, but after going through customer service hell to get my X key fixed, I'm not too sold on mech keyboards, especially if they're from sucky... :S

I'm on GH, personally I love my Ducky Shine 2, at least the WASD cluster I modded to vintage blacks. wink.gif After I paint my custom plate and get some new LEDs in and mod the switch housings I'm gonna convert the whole keyboard to vintage blacks, lubed, stickered, and custom LEDs! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif Actually, I'm gonna make some "Jailhouse Greens" for the mods and fn row and 6 key cluster. wink.gif Might keep the mods black though to reduce noise. wink.gif

Why am I so good at finding annoying bugs in software? XD

Microsoft Excel 2013 doesn't have a "Browse" button for selecting a file directory to save documents, whereas msword does.
