What are you favorite series?

And what gear do you have?

I have a lot of favorite series, usually it's either Seinen or more. At the top of my head, Serial Experiments Lain, Samurai Champloo, Strike Witches, Black Rock Shooter, Spice and Wolf and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. There's a lot more, but I thought I'd give an interesting mix.

Same with Headphones, I owned a few that came and went, and I'll probably add that to my list once that's enabled(5 posts, right?). Currently, I'm toying around with an AKG 240 MK II, Pioneer HDJ-1500 and a Sony MDR-V6. I used to be a bit of a Sennheiser fanboy and owned the HD202, HD205, HD260 and HD598. I still feel new to this, though, but my next purchase might be an headphone amp since the AKG's are a little quiet for me.

Fun fact, I buy headphones based on how good they look in anime-style art. It's pretty shallow, but whenever I see an anime avatar with a certain pair of headphones, I sort of want it :P

You can hear flaws on pro studio monitors made for actual masterring and stuff

But for the most part. Most speakers will hide flaws more

@lolicide
Welcome!!

lolicide (that is a pretty dark name btw), you don't happen to have a MAL account, don't you?

If not, it's part of the introductory process here to set one up ^o^

I'm using a pair of ADAM monitors and clipping in headphones sounds normal on them~!

I was listening to "Dancing in the velvet moon" from "Starcamp (track 3)" by Mizuki Nana

There's quite a few artbooks related to those kinda stuff :P

Sadly each headphone is drawn by different artists and... some of them  just makes you wanna cringe.

I guess I'm picky with art style.

Yeah... they certainly have some nice stuff.

Though since I can't really play guitar, I'd have to settle for the Tetsu model bass. Yep, in PINK.

It should be much cheaper than the LAKLAND one.

P.S. if you go to Tokyo, be sure to visit Ochanomizu (御茶ノ水) area, near the stations. Either JR or metro are fine, they're right beside each other. That place is FILLED with instrument store it's incredible :D

Otherwise Ikebukuro (池袋) or Shibuya (渋谷) has a few too.
The giant one in Akiba closed :S

Mastering engineers, studio engineers all really use studio monitors. I've been to my local emporuium and used their $500+ studio monitors. You can pretty much hear the problems on those as they are made for it.

However thankfully, the problems one has in the song does not appear on my $150 speakers.

I'm using a $700 pair of studio monitors right now and I don't hear the problem! LOL

^ there you go then: the reason why music sounds like schiit nowadays is because they're mixed, monitored, and mastered with such speakers.

So, I ask again, why use speakers to master when the end-user is more likely to use headphones to play back the music one just mastered using a speaker system?
