Hey, I was gaming, I didn't have the brain capacity to come up with anything greater than what I had tongue.gif

I was using the 5% of my brain capacity to formulate the hypothesis whilst I was busy screwing up a Tiger

That being said, I did kind of ruin the hobby for myself because I skipped most of the journey that you'd usually have when searching for 'the one'. But that doesn't mean I can't go back and smell the roses, I still like auditioning any headphone I come across, just for kicks.

I don't think there's a 'best' headphone, everything is just different flavours, so the best headphone is the one that's right for you. Kind of like scotch, really.

Oh and this applies to the post before. Are the 007s comfortable? At least moreso than the Lambdas?

A major problem I had so far with headphones is comfort. My ears jutting out more than the average person, thus always irritated by the pressing against the hard drivers.

Hence I retreated to the world of IEMs.

If I remember correctly, he might be low on Yen. I wonder if there's a way to send yen which he'll be able to use on delivery.

Heh, you'll have to talk to him about that...

I don't think he's in Akiba either, where he got all my stuff used for an excellent price! :)

He;s MIA in Osaka. They don't have internet there.

I'm just running the SRM-212 off of the Japanese transformer without any issues. Haven't even bothered unboxing my new transformer from Digikey.

You should try it out. Then I might buy the one you did... those Stax people just avoid giving straight understandable answers.

Well, I still need 3 more years to do that legally in Japan (I think the legal age is 20 in JP?). And well, parents would object (China vs Japan hostile feelings because of WWII, etc).

@ eve

SR-007 had deeper earcups yeah. It's also heavier and trickier to put on your head though since the earpads seemed to easily rotate and the headband was really loose/floppy when I tried it.

Lol, guess I might just get a 009 for my graduation. And power it through my SRM 252A tongue.gif

That amp is surpringly small btw. And according to some, it's best to replace it soon. It doesn't do the 202/7 justice.

Oh, and I find it strange. That IEMs that are bright are ok. But when headphones are even relatively bright, my ears cant take it... I found the 202s to be tiring sometimes.

The only problem with the 007 pads are that the cutout for your ears is a little on the small side. It's plenty deep enough, much more so than the lambda's (my ear would touch the protective cloth/metal mesh on the 202's). I have it angled to perfectly fit me, but I wouldn't mind having an extra millimeter or two spare room.

Figuring out how to wear the 007 properly takes days, it's very tricky, because the earpads, the cable, AND the headband rotates freely. You also have to bend the living hell out of the headband to adjust for the proper angle and clamping pressure. I think it was intentional to have the headband made from two separate strips of metal, makes it easy to bend in place.

But when all is said and done, it becomes extremely comfortable while still giving a great seal. It's almost like each unit is tailor fitted to the owner. ^^

I can adjust it for myself during the time it takes for me to pick up the headphones and put them on my head, you'll get used to it. There are no pressure points from the earpad or the headband, and I can adjust the headband so when I'm looking down a lot to read a book or study, the headphones will stay on my head securely, without needing a death-grip clamp.

Yeah, it's a major challenge for anyone auditioning it, getting a bad seal (which is so easy to do) makes it sound like poo, which is a shame, because the 007 is a brilliant headphone.

The lambda's are nice and all, but the Omega's are a huge step up IMO. tongue.gif

I blame Mechy.

And Yahoo Auctions.

And Kalbee for being such a good friend.

Erm I don't think the SRM-252 can power the Omega 3 fatty acids IIs.
