Although in terms of build quality... the HE-500 is way below the craftsmanship of the Audez'e headphones.

but you still can't tell an he-500 from an he-6 a few yards away :) can say ya have an he-6 biggrin.gif

No, but I don't think I want to be known for having a super inefficient headphone that doesn't sound much better than its younger counterpart for twice the price.

I've noticed that for a long time on Head-fi the unread posts thing doesn't work anymore. When I go into a thread and click on for example "16 unread posts" the page refreshes but is still on the most recent bottom post, and it no longer says that there are any unread posts. Has this happened to anyone else or is it just me?

Hmm, I think it just you.
it's working for me.

hm.... true. I haven't heard much of the he-6 since the revisions for the LCD-2 and the coming of the lcd-3 either.

This may just be the cutest episode of Oreimo yet

But yet, I have mixed feelings about it. Not sure if its just awesome. Or forced.

LCD's aren't exactly the most well built. Very very good craftsman ship. But build quality isn't that high. The joints look and feel and have been reviewed to be weak.

In build quality, I meant the feel and the materials used on the headphones. It's not as exquisite as the LCD-2/3 to hold at.

Durability wise, the HE-500 feels very solid but as with any expensive gear, it needs as much care and attention to as the LCD-2/3s.

Yep. My build quality means everything usually.

LCD3's are very fragile in how you place it on the table or handle it.

And heavy too comparatively to other full sizers and 701s

All of these planar magnetic talks and $1000+ headphones. Just go for a Stax rig in these prices, seriously. LCD-2 and 3 and HD800 are a waste of my money when comparing it to Lugia's Stax SR-Λ Signature combo; and for the headphone price itself, I think a SR-407 will sound better than an HE-500.

Not to mention weight alone; Stax Λ headphones are super-lightweight in comparison to the HE-500 and LCD-2/3.

And durability. Sure Stax Λ headphones are plastic, but they have replaceable parts. I'd rather drop money on a headphone that can last than a headphone that'll get destroyed even from a small drop.

Don't think about it too hard, just inhale the cuteness!
I think it all made sense.

I wasn't super stoked on the HE-6 as well. I heard the HE-6 paired with an RSA Darkstar in balanced mode and it sounded a bit too bright even with the pleather pads. Although its price is still fairly reasonable.

Point Blank Mastering video on Youtube.

............Crappy assed directional audio and spatial sound.

Really really funny. A video on mastering, yet with faulty one.

Man, that's really annoying. I wonder what has been causing that?

Oh gawd that overly expensive headphone amplifier.......Boris please make Project-IA sound awesome and prove to these ridiculous companies that they don't need to charge $3500 USD for a silly headphone amplifier.

I can't comment on it since I haven't heard every Staxes in their line up.

I've heard the SR-009 which I find absolutely sublime, the SR-007mk2 which I found a bit less and the SRS-002 System (the in-ear electrostat IEM + amp combo) in which I thought it had a very fragile cable, weird fit (almost like FAD Piano Fortes), inexistant bass response (maybe it was the fit?) but the cleanest and the most responsive sound I have heard on an IEM. I will even say that it beats the FitEar TG334 in terms of cleanliness and transient response.
