I think unis are much easier than schooling cause you study subjects that actually matters to you and your career/interests. And also the fact that you are free to do what you like with your time

But then again, I went to a boarding school

Lucky you. I'm not really enthusiastic about any subject at all. Though some are more equal than others in that respect. If a degree hadn't become a near prerequisite for a decent job, I wouldn't be here.

Not sure how much diff your univ is. But you need to take the courses required to graduate with a degree of ____ engineering. And included in these barrage of classes are the required humanities, arts, language, etc

If it's anything like my eng course...he'll only be taking engineering modules. None of that extra fluff.

LOL. I'm not sure about the fun part of the subjects....

Well, always wanted to learn programming. Oh well. At least my housemates know how to, so I can just learn from them then

Alpha is what we call "foundation". Take it as an introductory course to get you familiarise with the course you want to go in (engineering, art, computer, etc) It's a 1 year program

MATLAB is pretty nice :-)
I'm studying Medical Computer Science and I can't get around using it quiet often.
But don't talk to me about Java... MATLAB is so much more convenient!

C, C++, Java, Python are pretty common I think.
