I was talking about the town Hastings, England. If you're just saying 'Hastings' I think most people (at least in Europe) would immediately assume you talking about the English town. Especially since it's super famous because of the Battle of Hastings.

I don't agree. Plastic can take on many physical properties. All you need is something dense and hard -- like Teflon, with high melting/evaporation point -- like Teflon. Plus Teflon has much lower friction than steel, so it may lose speed less quickly.
The battle of Hastings is probably not well known in the US. Similar to how I don't know anything about famous revolutionary war battles.
