How were you planning to record?

You need a program capable of capturing flash RTMP secure streams, I use Jaksta, it works fine despite having a few quirks (mainly in naming, it can't handle Japanese characters).

Screw this. I downloaded a virused vers of Jaksta lol... So stupid of me~

I'll go back to Bandicam. At least I know it works for Nico. I'll prob will end up with a 30-40gb file, but maybe I could compress it later.

I happen to like Thai food a lot.

Playback is always VERY smooth on my iPhone 5 and iPad 4th gen. But on my PS3, Xbox 360, AND 13" MacBook Pro w/ retina display the playback was often stuttering. VERY VERY noticeable during panning sequences and sometimes even otherwise.

And just to see if it were the HD4000 in my rMBP not being able to handle things I tried THREE other laptops. One Mac and two Windows machines. All had the same issues. I went through tech support w/ CR to check my connection... 54Mbps down and 21Mbps up. And a very low ping. CERTAINLY not that.

The last CR employee who replied seemed to imply that my machines just couldn't properly decode the videos. So what does that mean? PS3, 360, and four laptops that are all Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge could not handle it? Three with quad core i7 and dedicated graphics? And my own with a measly dual core i5 and HD4000. So what am I supposed to use? A desktop w/ dual 8-core Xeon processors, 3 TITANS in SLI and 256GB RAM? Is that the only way to play back these mediocre quality streams?

Don't even get me started on the awful color banding and blocking issues. I was willing to look past those for convenient streaming. But stuttering I can absolutely not look past.

I want to also note that I had a Roku 3 for a day to test out the FUNimation app... Which is awful. Very slow. Decent video but awful sound quality. Had that flangy sound of very low bitrate audio. BUT Crunchyroll, if I recall correctly, did not stutter as much on the Roku 3. Perhaps they use the same or similar encodes w/ the Roku and iOS.

Nevertheless, I may or may not try a 1 month subscription and see how much I use it with my iPad. I COULD invest in the Roku 3 again, but do I really want to spend $100 when my PS3, 360, and/or laptop should all be perfectly capable of the same thing?

I've never had an issue with CR stuttering. I just happen to have standards for quality.

I think you should just pay CR their $7/month to support the industry and torrent the stuff you are actually going to watch.

So once again I need some help from you guys

#1 I'm not a Computer Technology student because I realize resturant work is for well people who r not me

#2 my gpu sucks... well my whole build sucks. Going ivy bridge was a BAD decsion, actually for $200 bucks my gpu is pretty nice but it still not nice enough for me... I won't even run Metroid Prime rerender on Dolphon 3.0 at 1080 and a constant 60fps... that's pretty bad imo

SO I figured I ought to upgrade my gpu and finally get a better cooler for my Cpu so I can over clock it a little more.

Any tips on a good Gpu, something like a Nvide Gtx  680, I'm planning on doing a new build in the fall when I get more College money. Wanan try an aim for an entirely water cooled system. figured I might as well start with getting the first of the two gpu's I want to SLI

I generally get MP4s... Which are re-encodes. Makes it easy to play them on PS3, iOS, etc. So I wouldn't say I am as much of a quality whore as I used to be, but at least the MP4s generally don't have much color banding and blocking and have zero stuttering.

As far as supporting the industry, i do. I buy a fair amount of merch and buy my favorite anime. Though right now all I have pre-ordered is the LE for the first two Madoka films. Not much else I really want at the moment.

I do also wish that American publishers would get on the ball with digital distribution of manga. I do not feel like lining my shelves with manga anymore. Give me legit digital copies with good quality, and I will stop reading scanlations of licensed manga.

With all this tech support chat going on

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/How_does_one_patch_KDE2_under_FreeBSD%3F

As for choosing a GPU, AnandTech has a lot of benchmarks.

http://anandtech.com/bench/GPU13/583

As for dual GPU, performance is still pretty inconsistent. It's gotten better, but if you can just have a single GPU setup, that would probably be the better option.

Any specifics?

What is your CPU? What games do you play most of the time? As an example, an i3 though it might be ok with FPS (you must of course have a beefy GPU) is not ideal if you wanna play an RTS or even run emulators.

A GTX 680 is good but you'd be better served with an AMD 7970 GHz edition, if you plan on going with 1 GPU solution for the time being. You can then crossfire later on. A 7970 GHz edition will outperform a GTX 680 most of the time if the game is not made for nvidia graphics. Just my 2 cents :)

You should be aiming for the best bang for buck IMO, so stick with the 7950 or a 670. Don't fall into the trap of getting the best of everything "just because I can".

Watercooling is a waste of money that would have been better spent elsewhere if you're just getting it for the hell of it. I'd only recommend it if you're going to overclock seriously.

There's nothing terribly wrong with Ivy Bridge unless you want to do some serious overclocking. I run my 3770k @4.4 and it's good enough for my uses.

Wait for Haswell and get a TOTL AMD GPU, it doesn't have PhysX, but you can mine with it and it has better performance! biggrin.gif

If you want to support the industry you might as well just buy some merch or DVDs/BDs. Been getting a lot of small figures lately. Makes up for the fact that I am buying about 20x less anime than I used to, haha.

BDs are just too expensive, I don't support the shafting of consumers.

I think a CR sub is the way to go.
