So much hentai.

Good news!

I bought some fancy looking caps for ya' ....for a fraction of the cost too. biggrin.gif

The fraction is about 1/7th in case you want to know.

The biggest ones actually cost quite a bit if you were to order them from a distributor online.

eyyy. so I'm building it too? :3 I have a nice idea for the case.

The Burson Soloist looks nice. I've been thinking about picking one up. Pity about the stepped attenuator though.

Haha, sure. but after I updated the design it's kinda closer to 200.

Do you know which post bowei made with the P-H-like description of P-T? I forgot to bookmark it.

Here's my slightly edited version:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Project-T Fully Discrete Amplifier

Introduction:
Project-T is a fully discrete headphone amplifier with the design goal being to create a high end fully discrete amplifier at a fraction of the cost of what is currently on the market.
Our designer uses practical audio design and engineering to create a discrete amp that neither hogwash nor snake oil. The muting relays and fully discrete PSU enables Project-T to perform at its best weather you are driving IEMs or full-sized headphones.

What is Project T:
Project-T is a project by b1oLABS to test and produce a fully discrete unit. Armed with the technical knowledge, b1oLABS is here to produce an affordable unit for everyone. The T in Project T stands for Transistor as this is a fully discrete headphone amplifier.

Why P-T?

Affordability:
The goal is to use audio design with no exotic components nor nonsense measures to produce a great affordable discrete amplifier.

Fully Discrete:
By using a fully discrete design, this allows out engineer to fine tune every aspect of the amplifier. Most notably the output DC offset and input bias current for the amplifier section, these aspects out perform most commercial op-amps and ensures no pop/clicks even when driving the most sensitive IEMs.

Universality:
With a muting relay on power on and off, fluid gain levels, IEM’s and full size headphones will be well accommodated.

DIY-Ability:
Built from the ground up by hand. Project-T allows you to also fix or add changes to P-T. No micro solders preventing you from changing parts yourself. If we can build it from hand, you can change it by hand.

Community:
The diagrams and files on how to make a P-T will be made available to the public under a general use license. You can build one yourself under the condition that is is not for commercial purposes. The idea is to allow each and every single one of you, the ability to build your own affordable discrete amp. The enthusiast community is small, and only by our measures together, can we look forward to the future of this hobby. b1oLABS supports the enthusiast mindset of the world and wishes for DIY’ers to rise up.

The Features of P-H:

Dual-tracking Bipolar PSU design ensures balanced supply rails
Capacitance multiplier PSU design provides excellent load regulation and ripple rejection.
Muting circuitry ensures no pop/click at power on/off
2-stage design ensure constant input impedance
AC-coupled design prevents possible dangerous DC from entering the system
Sziklai pair used in input stage to minimize input bias current (less than 10nA, better than most op-amps)
Output offset adjustment ensures minimal output DC offset so that the unit can be used with even the most sensitive IEMs

Sure, Ill give you the schematics.

There isnt a solidifed list right now anyway smily_headphones1.gif

What kinda course is that??

Here's the list:

(I only ordered 5 PCBs)

  1. me
  2. mech
  3. mech
  4. csirus
  5. panthers

Um... sorry, they kinda asked first.
If we get 5 more ppl, Ill order more, Alternatively, you can go get the PCB made yourself.

Speaking of P-T PCBs, It seems like they have so many colors available, I bet I can ask for a cyan PCB if I wanted to tongue.gif

So anyway yeah, we got black.

I have really bad experience in burson's designs....
Whenever I turn the volume with music playing, it produces some REALLY loud clicks.

Just to check I'm not using a defective unit, I tried 2 different ones..... and it happens with both...

With headphones it's still bearable but I don't wanna know what happens if I plug some IEMs in.......

ah it's fine. So it's rather a self built project instead of you specifically building them? Was confused. And I read "Virgin Tech" again... but I think I might hold

Panda and the former members not goin for one?

Game codes have been sent.

@borisu, caps are one of the things you don't want to skimp out on =P

I'm out, Tangster got Crysis and Think got Bioshock.

Bro wanted the other pair, the games are relatively easy to pirate though if you choose to do so.

They're legit Panasonic FC and Sanyo SE wink.gif

but TBH, They're not critical given my circuit design....

I'm using a capacitance multiplier circuit, the resultant will be somewhere in the 0.x F region

and Yes, you read that right, it's F. (1F = 1000000µF)

so it will work very well as long as you don't use exploding chinese caps (No joke, happened to me once.)
