Did you A/B?, and what was driving the 009's?

Could you go into more detail on why you preferred the A8X's?

I think I am...

no, didn't get to A/B, but the bass and soundstage was just on a whole different level.

009s were driven by a SRM-727II

Um... sound sig. I demo'd ADAM, Genelec, and Focal monitors.
The entire AX series sounds about the same except for the bass power.

Yeah, if bass impact and soundstage are important to you, then speakers will smoke headphones all day everyday. tongue.gif

Detail and intimacy are more important for me, so headphones are the way to go (I just tunnel vision the vocals). I'm still going to get a decent speaker rig as well though, just to see what the fuss is about.

Most of my music is embarrassing, so that's another plus for headphones, as I don't want my family to hear me listen to lolis.

They first gave me the Final Audio Heaven VI-CG IEMs to listen and these are my first impressions:

-Very good build quality and nice elegant design

-A warm sound signature with polite treble

-Lovely midrange with emphasis on vocals

-Great bass for a single BA. Tight with moderate impact

-A surprisingly wide soundstage

-Good detail retrieval and good instrument separation

The only downside is the cable. It feels quite fragile and it's prone to microfonics.

The second on the line are some pair of AKG Tiesto K67 Headphones and my first impressions:

25yuswsw28295.gif

S***, boomy bass. Recessed (almost non existant) and thin midrange. Crap treble.

BLEUUURHGHHHGHGH!!!!!!

Funny fact, Jaben told me it's their best seller... WTF?????

Then I talked with some members from the Audiophile-Indonesia forum and he let me try his HE-5.

HifiMan HE-5 (Wood Housing) with ALO Reference 16 Cable (Stock cable is broken)

It is much, much lighter, like half (even more) the weight of the HE-500. Sounds surprisingly familiar to the HE-500 but with a more present treble, less refined bass, rolled off sub-bass and mids aren't quite as the level of the HE-500. But still, for their first planar launched in 2008 it's a remarkable and excellent achievement.

After that I spotted some Logitech UE900 and absolutely need to try them. I'm very sad to say that I was disappointed. It sounds... muffled and boring. The lows are very good and very punchy but the vocals are muffled. It sounded like someone singing while having a ball gag in his mouth. I don't know if it was the fit or the seal that caused it but it let me down, very much down.

Last one to try before I needed to go was a pair of Denon AH-D600. Honestly, it doesn't sound as bad as the measurements in Innerfidelity but it didn't sound good either. It was a bit bassy and not very good bass either. There's no shine in it, no excitement. Just the sound of *boom* *boom* *boom*. Bring back the D2000 please!

That's about what I auditioned. There was a Unique Melody CIEM that belonged to someone but I didn't manage to audition it. Maybe another day.

After that, I chatted with the guys at Jaben and some members of the Audiophile-Id forums and we had a good laugh.

Nice impressions :)

I felt that way about the mainstream Sennheisers and AKG's as well.

I like to differentiate between mainstream awesome and just normal enthusiast awesome when listening to headphones. Testing a few tracks with each.

I'd gladly take the UE 900 as my headphone if I listen to top 40. Most other stuff will make top 40 sound like crap. But I wouldn't use that for listening to OMFAEJSADSF AWESOME SAUCE stuff

Flay?

I actually don't care for female dog circle jerks in GS and other series like Code Geass.

Flay's purpose is quite strong and her character was used extremely well. You will see dude. Anime can't just have stuff that make you feel whatever is good. Bad stuff that make you cringe is needed to induce a human response from you and to make the series more realistically.

Flay's addition to the series is very important. She is the girl that will bring about some of the underlaying character plots in the series.

The awesome music is a big thing in why you like it probably :)

Lol the guy 4 doors down in my suite has a 42" flat-screen TV, 5.1 surround sound, a receiver, a 360, a Macbook, and an 21" iMac. Just played black ops 2 in his room yesterday.

Sup guys.

Bought a new laptop. I had an old Mac laptop, but all attempts to resurrect it from the dead have failed. Installing OS X proved close to impossible, Linux is lacking the drivers to fully function, and Windows was both lacking drivers as well as periodically freezing because it was not installed via Bootcamp.

As a result I bought a Lenovo BG590. It has a 2.5GHz i5, 4GB RAM and 500GB storage. Seemed pretty good to me for the price.

How much did you get it for? What's the screen resolution and is it matte or glossy? Does it come with Windows 8? How many USB 3.0 ports are there?

Slept for 15 hours. Guess it was to make up for my lack of sleep this past week.
