Do any of you Japanophiles have hobbies/collections other than headphones with a lot of Japanese stuff? I have a fair number of other hobbies besides headphones, and over the years I've found that I tend to prefer the Japanese or German products. I think the Germans generally have better designs, but the Japanese edge them out in precision and quality control.

Tomoyo's brother is awesome. There's a reason he's the only male character on my favorites list :D

Nice, mechanical pencils happens to be one of the things I have a decent collection of. Which ones have you found work well for you? My current go-to is the Pilot Automac, but in the course of a few trips to Japan I've also picked up the Uni Kuru Toga and Kuru Toga HG, Pentel Sharp Kerry, Uni Shift-Pipe, Ohto Super Promecha, Staedtler REG, Zebra Tect 2way, and the newer Japanese-made Rotring 600.

Bah, mechanical pencils. I have mostly Unis so would just use one or the other. Rotrings should be coming in some (got some technical pens). But for the most part, I do with the regular wood stuff. Hi-Uni, Tombow Mono 100s, Rembrandts, Blackwing (singular for now, not plural :P).

Ah, I take it you use them more for art then. Was the Blackwing that pencil that got discontinued and was selling for $20 a piece a while back?

Joy haha.

Well let's try to spice it up.

What would be an interesting read is on the basis of Communism and why such violence was going on. So if we go with one of the q from 11-13, you could mention many rationales for it.

One of my favorite quotes

"It compels all nations, on pain of extinction, to adopt the bourgeois mode of production; it compels them to introduce what it calls civilization into their midst...to become bourgeois themselves. In a word, it creates a world after its own image" -Karl Marx

What he means here is that our society as we see it today was due to what the bourgeoisie or middle class merchants created in the 1800's during the Industrial Revolution. What we have 'learned' and felt to be 'our' world does not have to be this way. Where the poor will always be the poor. Through violent revolutions, it is possible to create a 'new' total world where the bourgeoisie mode of production is no longer there. Just as Feudalism was whipped away by Industrialization, so thus can Communism do the same.

If you do choose 11-13 (even though your lecteur won't read it), it will spice it up to add Marxist rationale to the paper on why such things happened, and as a backing to the civil fervor that was experienced .

Try a fountain pen sometime. You might find that they're the best writing tool available, like I did. Or you might find that they're just a pain in the ass, like most people seem to tongue.gif

Lol yeah. One can hope you won't become an internet sensation from that pic.

Vinyl wouldn't be big enough to fit in that box... It was something worse though. A customer had their Xbox 360 they sent me to mod spray painted professionally by an auto body paint shop, and the console itself is damaged...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Those nicks weren't there before, and the front faceplate is in a bit of dismay (that little piece on the top left of the box in the second pic is supposed to be connected to the faceplate)

Those were the newer Blackwings, I think ($20 was not the price I paid for them). Older ones get more pricey. No, wait come to think about it yes, those were the ones.

Very lush when needs to be, but can get quite dark, technical when needed. Some instances they can be downright gritty. But for the most part proper pressure gets very silky smooth lines out of them. Bit overpriced due to obvious reasons but lives up to hype.

Eww fountain pens :P

They are a pain. I have some random parker/whatchamacalit. No one seems to want it. Lists for like 100-300 used? Stupid thing.

Haha very cool. Have you tried one of the new ones? I thought I heard that they started remaking them using the same equipment and selling them for under $3 or something, but some people said that they weren't quite as good.
