Version 2 of my remaster:
Ori

Ver.1

Ver.2

This time I used Adobe Audition CS6 to make my remaster. It was quite a bit of a hassle but I think the end product is much better than the Audacity remaster.

What I didn't like about Ver.1 is that the drum kicks is very boomy and the highs are missing, especially the guitars. There was some reverberation but it's not possible to fix it.

About Ver. 2, the main difference is that now, it sounds much more balanced. Drum kicks are quite natural sounding now, less boomyness. Mids and highs are now improved and sounds less congested during the chorus. If anyone wants to try, just say it.

did you try up-sampling to get better phase cancellation?

Can you send me your remastered song?

Does anyone have advice on how to re-bend cables without ruining it? I seem to have a cable mess with these long mini-USB cables.

Not a good idea son.
Coverage in the u s is decent. Many still have DSL speeds in the agriculture America and dial up. But they arent exactly complaining as much as up 10Mb/s people are.
Dude. I was kinda in your shoes too. My school requires them for grad so i went and pulled almost a hundred in a few months... Sucked
Holy dear mother of God.
I thought you only bought 5Mb/s
Skype. Not for me. Im camera shy .... Ok no im not (youtube channels with 200k) i just dont know what to say in camera chats. Im used to threads where i can do other things and reply
One does not simply start ichigo without marathoning. Ichigo may not be special to others

But its one of my most favorite manga for reading
Sometimes i dont comment. But man, am i brought into your guys conversations a lot
Only on this thread will i see people competing for being more loli......

I haven't used the video chat in Skype at all and haven't used voice chat in about 5 years, just the text based part...

I said that the drums were very much incoherent and lost between the instruments, the bass is distorted and the guitar has lost its grit. The vocals were OK though. So I did some tinkering with the music files to sort of "remaster" it somewhat using what I have. The results are positive but still left to be desired. The drums are now present but is a bit loose and boomy, the bass is smoother and the vocals are still great.

Here's what I did:
This is the waveform of the song in its original state (Audacity).

It's pretty much compressed all the way in the chorus.

What I needed next was the vocals only but since there are no multitracks for this song, there's only one way.

All I needed to do was put the original and the instrumental track through Audacity and invert the instrumental track and then exporting making sure that the gain on both tracks are at -5dB. The addition of two opposites of a wave signal will make silence except for the vocals. The result is this:

It's not perfect because I can still hear some instruments but it should do.

Next I took the instrumental track and EQed it to bring the bass around the 75Hz to life then I put the vocal track in and mixed it down, the result is this:

The bass is a bit boomy but the song is no longer strident.

Now any volunteers that want to test my "remaster"? Can I post links for the track or is it better to PM?

PM it to me please :)

Aww yes, please send to me too. If this actually sounds good, can you teach me your ways so I can apply similar tweaks to other songs sensei?

I did, not sure if it made any difference though but still it was my first time using Audition CS6 so I might have derped out on the export settings a bit. It did upsample the files to 96kHz though.

I will send you a PM shortly.

You got PM. Honestly, don't bother. It's not much worth it. It's not a huge improvement, it just makes the song nicer to listen to. It's a bit like extensive EQing but only using multitracks and mixing.

Oh yeah, make sure to listen at equal loudness. Because obviously, some people see louder as better.
