From bowei's post I get that it's an O2 amp made in limited quantities, but it doesn't really give a story of the project~ like how/when it started, how long it takes/how to build one. It would be pretty awesome if P-H owners started a thread on that.

started long ago w/ the bunch of the ppl wanting a cheap amp/dac. The gg man, Borisu, built them. Now there are people with them.

What'll you be trying? lol my dad bought a watch from seiko about idk how long... probably before I was born and gave it to me. Still working mighty fine.

I love Sekios, I have a solar titanium one. Don't wear it much though.

haha

I wouldn't buy a Rolex. I think they're quite ugly. Patek Philippe...ooooh

I've got a few nice dress watches(none of which I wear in favour of a £6 Casio and a £30 Sekonda), an Oris automatic, Sekio(mentioned above) a couple of Tissiot autos and a solid gold D+G(so garish).

Nope, it's AMB Labs being stupid.

Why the eff would they use MOSFETs that could only take ±20V between Gate and Source when you have a ±30V (or more) supply.
The amp self-destructed due to one bad connection; That's not DIY friendly at all.
The beta22 is one circuit design that ALL electronic engineers should use as a bad design example, we have:
  • Minimal safety margin (Oh did I tell you that the BJTs could only take 50V?)
  • Redundant structures
  • Badly implemented components
and the list goes on...... What the hell was TI Kan thinking??

Do you happen to have the lab sheet with you still?
It's kinda hard to get it around my head without a diagram....

LOL, Boris raging at b22.
I realized soon enough that it wasn't such a good design, but well, I made a stupid mistake I can't even justify with hindsight.

Yes, I have a lab sheet, but it's in Dutch. :P
I can give you a pdf of the plan. It has a pretty decent diagram.

Werkplan.pdf 531k .pdf file

LOL.

I want one too now. Could use it too... do nothing particularly productive.

So where the hell was I today?

FOXCONN WORKER!...LEGIT....seriously

foxconn (Click to show)

As you can tell by the light, I spent 3.5 hours on it

I did full complete rebuilds of it 3 times for testing the LCD, and because I forgot schiit and I did about 6-7 partial select section rebuilds.

Holy schiit, iphone 3G and 3GS are easy as hell to fix, this is ...VERY time consuming.

Lol, I agree with absolutely everything you said. The ending was a bit confusing IMO.

Project H is an amp/DAC combo (the amp being an O2) that includes a special control board that Borisu designed that does a bunch of magic stuff.

Seriously dude? You spent 3.5 hours on that???? On something that has screws to take the back panel off????????

It *only* took 1.5 hours to replace nearly everything in my iPod classic...

Albeit that was 3 people working on it at once, most of that time was spent taking the back cover off. What a pain in the ass...

I'd quite like something brighter than the TG334.

Congrats, did you get a good price?

Announcement next week I think?

Also seems like some have already gotten review samples? It's what I gathered from the Heir thread.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Personally don't like how they market the stuff sometimes, not to mention the rabid cult behind their lineup. But that's a story for another day.

< when pigs fly

< yep no bias here

So Bowei endorsement worked?

I wondering if I'd get the TH600s in time for burning in prior to the London meet if I order at the start of March.

Finally, I go from no soundstage...to a little soundstage on the Monoprice 8320. Oh how I missed you, "soundstage"

Nooo! Like the 334! Come to the dark side!

$110 shipped. Seemed decent enough, considering the other offers I'd got were for $100 or less.

Huh, that's interesting...

One can dream that it will sound almost as good for less money lol.

Dunno if it was the endorsement or just being the only one left. Or just a lot of time on the forums. Either way, It's done now!

Pshaw, soundstage doesn't exist, it's all in your head.

*puns*

What tips you using?

Ordered 24 biflange tips for various purposes 3 weeks ago...still not here. Sigh, guess I'll wait another 2 weeks.

Dunno, getting tired of the whole "bang-for-your-buck" spiel. Just want stuff to sound good.

Going off to sleep, oyasumi ~~
