Tera player?

I only caught one part of it. And I teared up a bit.

It was a soldier that came in and sang a song. Then he was asked about his family. He replied and basically said that he had been out on deployment to a far away place for over 6 years and have only met his family twice in that time and how he had always wanted to say somethings to his parents. Stuff about thanking them and etc etc.

You could see then, that he knew something was comming up, but of course he wasn't going to hype himself up. He was more static moving at that point and tensed up.

And then his parents showed up in the back.

I teared up a bit.

FYI, joining the army is currently volunteer based, not drafted in anyway. Regular deployment time is only 2 years. For his to be 6 years means it was personal descision.

Not to downplay the seriousness of the situation, just think that they overplay that sort of stuff on public Chinese television...won't go into too much controversy. It was pretty sad, but chinese variety/talk shows are filled with that sort of stuff, people gradually build an immune system to it.

Better than the South Korean mandatory system we all love to hate. 

The Tera Player thread...some of the most ridiculous stuff I've seen on head-fi by far...and that's saying way too much. DAP threads usually turn out not too well, but this one would take the cake.

Dude, this stuff is overplayed on EVERY television. Sappy reunions are a cliche and common occurence on American TV too. But guess what, even knowing that, it works DAMMIT!
