Yeah, well I don't know about everyone, but I'm pretty sure Numbers already paid. Everyone had to contribute some money in order for Borisu to afford all the parts for 10 O2s (~$400), 10 DACs (~$400), 10 cases (~$450). Those numbers are pretty much what I just pulled out of my arse, they are probably over estimates... The cases are currently being made, and *hopefully* they can be shipped to Borisu before the Chinese new year starts. Hopefully...

Then, Borisu will probably have to study for his exams and such, so they won't be done until Easter or even summer break, depends on when Borisu has time...

Manga does a better job for most series although that isn't always true.

>:o borisu can DIY to the extreme. So, numbers needs 200?

Oh question, do jacks wear out? I thought they could have stuff taken in n out indefinitely :s

They do. Long term users use Neutrik

however that is a very minimal concern. Regular ones will last a long time

Okay Bowei, I edited the OP for Project H so it's a bit more concise and makes more sense to me... I also added some 3D renders in there as well. It's been bothering me for some time, but I just now had time and felt like editing it...

Summary of Project H:

Inside Project-H is an Objective 2 amplifier with a Burr Brown 2134 op amp and dual NJM4556 recommended high output buffer performance opamps to drive even the most power hungry planar magnetics. The DAC is the Cirrus Logic CS4398, which has been highly recommended by Kiteki for being more natural and is also used in the Marantz CD6003 player, ($500 USD) Decware ZDAC 1, ($875 USD) and also the Esoteric X-05 SACD player ($5000 USD, yes that is the right number of zeros). There is also a control board which manages power for the DAC and O2, as well as receives the line out from the DAC and line in from the O2. The control board will have two different states, one will have the line out from the DAC go directly to the O2, while the other state will send the DAC out and O2 line in to RCA jacks on the back, allowing you to hook up another DAC to the O2, or a different amp to the DAC. The front of the case will have a 1/4" headphone out. The case as of right now seems to be made out of aluminum, with 3mm front and back panels, and completely black

Why Project H?:

Options: It not only features some of the most coveted non snake oil parts around such as a full Objective 2 and CS4398 DAC but also has a central command board to relay switch signals and combine and separate the units. This is done with a fully customized design from the engineer of the project, Borisu.

Feel: With such a decision on getting these black gloss cases, one can get the look and feel of a much more expensive unit at such a low price. The case features a 3mm front bezel made of solid aluminium. The case comes in at 26 cm X 15 cm X 7 cm.

Cost: An O2 would cost $170-$200($150 base+$15 adapter and $15 shipping) after shipping and wall adapter from most companies. And those utilize batteries. Batteries do have their pros, such as being able to move the O2 around your house easier, but also leads to lower power output. We did not strive for just an O2. We strived for more, we strived to make a Objective Desktop Amplifier using the O2. This is not the portable O2 anymore, this is a full desktop vartiant. Fully featured dual amp and DAC switching units are rare if non existent for most around.

Projected unit cost FOR U.S/CANADIAN people:

$130-$140 for unit itself

~$15 wall wart

~$30 shipping

Broken down

~$85 Main components and accessories:

Front panel switches and buttonsand RCA on back

Objective 2 Amplifier PCB and components (includes some custom components as well such as 1/4" headphone out and BB op amp and wiring to DAC)

Cirrus Logic CS4398 Flagship DAC

Custom b1o designed Project-H controller PCB(to control all aspects of the case it uses a micro processor which handles power management, switches, State Switching tech and more)

Volume Pot

$30-$35 case (just an estimate right now)

$15 per person *gift* to Borisu (imagine how long it took to solder all the boards, design the dam custom board, fit them into the cases, glue them and finally package and ship ten 5lb units.

$15 wall wart

$30 shipping

Total for unit itself: $135

Total is around $170-$180 completely DONE, shipped with power supply to your house.

This is within expectations. Sub $200 unit.

Yeah, Borisu is a freaking DIY master, except for when he told me to remove some components off my phono pre-amp because he thought they were bad, when in reality they were fine, so I'll have to order some new ones when I order a new PSU... :/

Jacks wear out, just like everything else. They're relatively easy to fix though, and I wouldn't worry about it too much. I haven't had my gear too long, but I've had my O2 since Feb and I connect/disconnect stuff a few times a day and I haven't had a problem yet. My iPod on the other hand... The stupid piece of schiit replacement jack for that died the 10th time I plugged my B2s into it... >:(
