It is different. Credit means you are paying out of credit, debit means out of what you gave them. I can't do that yet and plus this is a co-signed account.

I think I get a check book that I would then just give to the bank myself or to her when she goes to the bank.

The legality sees it differently. To get around the legality of this, you have to have your parents co sign and so the legality of it is seen as your parents holding that debt.

Basically it just makes our lives easier and I can order tenga.

@borisu

The money that you have, you give to the bank. The bank then puts that number on a card. You can only use up as much money as is availble in that card. As opposed to a credit where you first buy and then at the end of the month the banks asks you for money. If you always pay on time, you get a good "credit". See how it works now?

@Mechy

We are looking at it now. Doesn't really matter. I want to make sure I get all the details straight. If I do, then I can order tenga :)

You don't get a checkbook with a credit card... you don't even get a bank account with a credit card....

Yes, but... interest... monthly fees... MORE MONEY!!!

Hmm, Didn't know what tenga was at first until I googled it, good thing there was nobody behind me eek.gif

Like where do you think a checkbook draws money from? Your personal stash of cash under your bed and then it magically disappears from your stash and appears in their vaults and your balance is paid off?

post #40536 of 157366

I don't really get the checkbookthing yet. We need to talk to the bank or something first. Whatever it is, I get to buy tenga.

And yes, the legality is if you fail to pay your credit card payment your parent's who have a good credit score a liable for your payment. On the other hand with a bank account and debit card (which you are allowed to set up underage) you pay with the money you deposited in the bank? And you can, oh I don't know if this is the 100th time I'm mentioning this, have them prevent you from ever OVERDRAWING how much money you put in so you never go into debt so you never spend money you don't have and the bank is never at risk of losing money..?

post #40538 of 157366

You don't understand what or how a checkbook works and yet you assume a credit card is your best answer?

....

Okay I'm done. You go figure it out with your parents.

Basically they work on trust. And honestly. It doesn't make a difference. Right now I hold on to all the online assets. I have the password to the paypal, Amazon, newegg, ebay, and a variety of other stores with the credit card already pre loaded. I just check with them before buying anything and sometimes my 10-20 calls because of a super deal annoys the hell out of them. So it's no different really. And it's getting hard to know who's money is who so she just wants to get it over with.

So yes, I can buy that game I wanted. That TV on sale right now that looks cool if I wanted or tenga. It doesn't really matter, it is just hard for her to keep track of who's money is who's.

I'm waiting to go home and steal one out of my moms broken desktop to see if it works in mine first.

You realize a debit card works just the same as a credit card for online transactions right?
Also, a checkbook isn't that hard to understand. You write down how much money you put in your account and how much you spend...

Or you can be lazy like me and not keep track of it in a check book and just use online banking...

Also, aren't there other problems with buying tenga? Like when it arrives in the mail, when someone cleans your room, when you get careless, ect?

Close to about. Credit or Debit, all about the same.

All packages that are addressed to me are never opened by anyone else. I buy stuff and receive review packages. I can just tell them that it is a review package. Seriously.

Cleans my room? Nobody does, but sometimes they go in looking for stuff. The Tenga that is cheap is one time use only anyway but you can re use it as vortex said. I have a lot of space to store my money and stuff I may want to hide. I have shelves and pull out drawers where all my extra parts and electronics and wires are. I can hide it easily in there.

I'll take a pic later.

I used to be responsible for 3-4 rooms but now only two of them. My office and my personal room. I used to also be responsible for the basement home theatre center back when I watched TV A LOT or console gamed a lot but I don't anymore. And the third garage used to be also taken care of by me as all my motorcycles and bicycles were in there. Now its filled with all our motorcycles and misc stuff. My two rooms are both about 100-120 sq ft each. So not that big in any way anyway.

Good luck with that then...

Yeah. I would like my office station in my own room but they don't want me staying in one room all day and sleeping with "electronics" so they just gave me two rooms. I guess it's fine as I have a queen sized bed so I would barely be able to fit my station in that room or walk around. Whatever, I keep my Mac in there and use it at night time if I want. She has no problems with that.  (yay for illuminated keyboard)

I'll be building a portable set headphone station in my room soon. By that, all I mean is an amp and DAC. The Mac already has a pretty good one and I only use IEM's or portable headphones at bed but I have extra stuff lying around anyway. Now that I think about it, that idea sounds stupid as my music files aren't even on my Mac. I could move it to a NAS (local only) but I would then first need to move all my files form my Ext, and convert the entire HDD into Mac OS journaled. So it is a pain.

Not sure anymore.

My parents are funding my desktop for when I go to college next year. I'll try for a smaller case maybe. But I really want a Mid ATX. II don't want too many fans or noise or venilatoin as it needs to go under a desk or somewhere else.

At this point, I think I'll get one of those VERY minimalistic cases that HAiburi likes. Or even a Source or something. I don't want it to stick out too to much.

I'll also drop in 8GB's into my Mac and put a 256GB SSD into it.
