Today's my final exam day.
Tomorrow is going to be an epic day. MLP S3 starts off, and I get to do a crapton of soldering. I'm looking forward to it.

I should have been studying mechanics, but NOOO, I spent 1 hour writing this post. Dang, took much longer than expected.

Isn't it 'chauffeur'? I'm not sure, but that's at least the Dutch spelling. (Dutch has a lot of French words, and in contrary to other languages, does not change the spelling of them, only the grammatical conjugations). It's a very common word in Dutch, by the way. Any driver of a motorized vehicle (except boats and planes) is typically either called a 'bestuurder' or a 'chauffeur', both occurring with more or less equal frequency.

That's more or less right. The entire show is resting on the fact that Hina is cute. All the surrounding plot is crap, and the only other point of interest is the relationship between Hina's sister and her foster father, but that's just weird and unrealistic as well. That one fat guy was simply disgusting, and all of the remaining characters were horrible as well.

It's like: "We'll create a crappy anime, but to make people actually watch it we put in a random cute four year-old girl".

Addressing this a bit, while I don't follow the rumor mill and upcoming releases much, I do follow people that I trust their opinion, and I can see where the hype is justified and where it's not. Like Magi and JoJo, the hype before it so far has been properly placed, as they turned out great, if not marvelously awesome. Some, as you said yourself, like Little busters, is misplaced.
Head-fi, on the other hand, seem to not be like this recently. Some are justified, some are misplaced, but usually the larger the hype and follower behind it, the more dissenting any opinion is against the Gestalt Opinion is Wrong.
I really need to stop now, as even I can't make sense to whatever is in my mind that I may or may not type.
Oh and to spur a bit of anime discussion, here's my preliminary season's list:
1)JoJo's by several miles lead
2)Psychopass
3)Shinsekai Yori/ Magi.
Note though I only watch like 7 or something shows only this season, since I'm a picky and cynical bastard.

To foreigners French spelling is a b*tch at first, but it's relatively consistent. Nothing like Dutch or English, where the whole concept of consistency in spelling is almost non-existent.
In Dutch we have at least 4 different pronunciations for each of the vowels 'i', 'e', and 'a'. Some of them overlapping as well. Furthermore we also have the vowels 'ou' and 'au' which sound the same, 'ij' and 'ei' also sound the same, and we also have the vowels 'ie', 'eu', 'ai', 'aai', 'ooi', 'eeu'. And then there is also the fact that we never change spelling of foreign loan words, which causes for even more inconsistency in spelling and pronunciation.

I think 10 gradations between different grades is already more than enough. The line between an 8 and a 9 is pretty vague, but the line between 8 and 8.5 is extremely vague.
Besides, that would be implying that we humans have the ability to rank stuff with really high precision, whereas in reality our impressions of 'good' or 'bad' are both inconsistent and very vague/imprecise.

I personally like a 7-based system best, and I love IB for applying it to.
1/7 5th percentile
6/2 12th percentile
5/3 20th percentile
4 26th percentile
(approximately)

The line between 4 and 5 is very clear, between 7 and 8 is pretty darn vague still.

I had that happen to me as well several times in my life. Luckily there are two relatives in my hometown that also have a key. Both are about 10min by bike from my house, and there is always an unlocked bike under the car port (I wonder, is 'car port' even an English word? It's common in Dutch, and refers to a small area with a roof (but no doors) under which you park your car).

And that's the reason why it's not just semantics. Appreciation here means a lot to various people, and any criticism seems to always be seen as an insult to anyone that likes the product. Any and all anticipation and discussion threads for new and upcoming products that have the word appreciation in its title will always be too emotionally charged.
I really want to like more SoL actually so that I can freaking relax once in a while, but it's just too stupid for me now LOL.
Haven't been in an anime mood all week long, and I just download whatever is coming out (of shows that i watch). Even shinsekai yori, which I've been defending pretty much since ep. 4, is not alluring right now. I don't doubt that if Psychopass were to come out in the next day, it would get a pass from me too, if this un-mood goes on.

Silicon Knights were the developers of f. ex. Too Human, which was very long in development and could be called "console DNF".

Anyway, when they moved the development to current-gen consoles, they licenced Unreal Engine 3, but felt its development wasn't advanced enough and dropped it in favour of an in-house engine.
After finishing the game, they sued Epic for selling them an unfinished product as a finished one (or something like that). Epic counter-sued them for using code from UE 3 in their engine. Turns out they were right and SK are forced to destroy all remaining copies and source code of all games using said code...

Had no idea something like that was going on...

I only went on occasionally back then. Wasnt too into head fi as much as now. And yup, i don't think i heard of you back then. I remember seeing kiteki with something about avatar pics or pictures in general. Of women? Maybe.

This was back when i didnt know head fi had that large of an anime following.
