Why no combos? It's not like you have to use the built in amp. At this price range a lot things are combos I think. Plus, if you can get a good amp at the same time, why not? The only things I can think of that aren't combos around this price range are the ODAC, or an HRT Music Streamer II. That being said, both of those are actually very solid choices I should think.

"Transient" means "short time"....

No it doesn't. Transient is like a loud and sudden peak in the audio. I think the word your looking for is "transparent." In that case, personally I would avoid potentially sketchy brands such as Nuforce, Audinst, etc...

As I always say, don't count out pro audio interfaces either, though it probably doesn't make a difference as there isn't really any price difference.

NuForce I heard is skecthy but, the Audinst was recommended by a fellow ont he dt 880 600 ohm thread, I'll looking to the ODAC now to

I remember the days when I used to spend time 'researching' what audio devices I wanted to buy. Now I'm tired and don't really care anymore, hahaha.
