More like >120 new animes per year and i watch 80 - 100 of them lol.

 

EDIT: no more like >200 per year (in 2011 there were 233 NEW TV series alone, not counting OVAs or movies)

Whoa,  where are you getting your figures from? Counting from charts, it is nowhere near 200.

Whoa,  where are you getting your figures from? Counting from charts, it is nowhere near 200.

Sorry, it seems that MAL's search filters are not working properly, 
the correct number or NEW TV series in 2011 was 148 according to MAL

and out of that, I watched 55 TV series.

My total number of animes watched in 2011 was 78 (including OVAs, Movies, Specials)

alright, that I can believe, even though I still counted only 120 something. But those charts leave off the kiddy shows and random last minute entries.

Though the actual BRS OVA isn't that great and the recent TV series is just plain terrible...

On the subject of Madoka, it's still on my re-watch list but I feel that a lot of fans are just riding the popularity wave and giving it too much credit for simply doing something radically different in a well-established genre. But this is just a personal peeve about the story and in particular one extraordinarily contrived twist. I will admit that the show is spectacular visually (by far Shaft and Shinbo's best work stylistically so far) and episode 10 was superb. (I recommend watching Madoka just on the merits of episode 10).  

Edit: I should add that the story was superbly paced, and set the standard for what all 13 episode anime should be able to accomplish. (That one twist I mentioned still infuriates me though).

Really? I thought the TV is better.

I tried to watch the OVA 2 times and failed to do so everytime.

1st time: fell asleep around 2-3 mins in and woke up around a hour later with my wallpaper right in my face.

2nd time: like the first time but slept at around 10 mins in.

But I actually watched ALL the TV eps. although i still don't know what exactly is going on, I'm watching it just for the Vocaloid OP and i guess the fight scenes are decent.

I find that i dont use chinese sites. Half the stuff requires u to downlosd somethig and it doesnt look legit. Its like an old man with a lolipop and sticking it out at u!

I thought i watch a lot a year too, since there are always over 20 items in my "watching" list but many of them span over 2 or more seasons so its not that much now that i actually counted.

In the OVA I found the slice of life segments enjoyable and at least relatable. And the action segments were well animated. (Though of course the TV series did this well too.)

The main issue I had with the TV series was just MELODRAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EAT MACAROONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol. But yes, the melodrama...

In all honesty I only watched the first episode before skipping through the second and deciding that the series wasn't worth my time. If the series had given me a reason to care beyond "PLEASE BE MY FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO SAD CUS YOU WON'T BE MY FRIEND!!!!!!!!!!!!" I might have managed a few more episodes. 

(Yes, I believe my use of caps lock effectively demonstrates the level of melodrama in this show).

I was watching so much anime and other tv shows.... (following and watching 15 or so different series at one point) that I was forced to drop almost half of them. :C

What criteria could that be? I'm sure someone can help you get something(old or new).

I loved SPICE AND WOLF :3  it was all good. Jun Fukuyama just made it better :)

Managed to grind out the rest of the shows that I'm not OVERLY fond of. Now alls I have to watch is the shows I actually enjoy a lot

Also, I dropped the sankarea manga. It just got boring because I didn't like the main character nor any of the others. Imouto was cool but she wasn't enough to save it for me. I'm just glad I dropped the manga and didn't have to go through that with the anime.
