Fancy store. Was kinda disappointed with their clothing selection though. It's basically a few articles of clothing and like 10+ colours for each one. XD

Basically, Japanese Old Navy, but with the occasional cool t-shirt design and of generally higher quality.

Wouldn't have happened if it was an Apple product...

Yeah but the Apple Watch sucks :(

Ouch, just got a letter in the mail that I believe is legitimate based on everything I researched, saying that the U.S. government was hacked and basically all of my personal information including my fingerprint data was stolen. :|

The vibe is very meh.

Dang, if it doesn't ask you for anything personally to send and is just an alert then it should be legit :/

I would consider it just more of a slow pace I guess? You didn't like the monogatari series, right? I guess it follows that you wouldn't like this given it's by the same author.

Yeah, it just asked me to enter a PIN online to activate the rest of the services, and sign up for an account. It seems legit, which is great because now I have credit monitoring and scary because it means my data is stolen and I'll be on my own after three years :/

I probably won't be able to come up with this stuff myself if you give me 3 years time.

I put the 'CPU' part in quotes to mean that I didn't really mean the word build myself. I didn't even consider what I did building it.

...kinda not really. A CPU is much much more complex than an ALU which is basically what you just said, something made nearly soley out of logic gates. A CPU requires a tad bit more than just logic gates.

in fact, being able to claim one has built + soldered a "CPU" is not that hard of a thing to do.

you don't need to build a state-of-the-art x86 CPU to be able to claim that.

I don't generally count deballing your XBOX360 CPU lol

Most of the CPUs I see built on minecraft or online are just simple ALUs that use simple instruction sets, take an opcode, and then perform basic arithmetic through ripple adders etc. A real CPU incorporates so much more and generally takes more than just logic gates

Nope.. I watched 3 seasons of it waiting.....through.....all.....of....it to see what was up with it. Just waiting for that moment where I could go. Hey!!! This is good...

Nope...never happened.

Seems legit!

I wanna get into reballing surface mounted chips, but so far I'm having enough trouble with replacing soldered USB ports as it is.

Thank the heavens I'm not into SMD rework, a good hot air gun starts at $800 and runs into the thousands.

And then you gotta worry about preheaters, micro tweezers....

I wish I knew how they do the FPC connectors so perfectly at the factory...I suck at doing those :frown:

+1

Uniqlo is to Old Navy like how Muji is to Ikea.

I have totally no idea what does it mean. I mean, I know Ikea and that Uniqlo had a few gaming-related t-shirt designs with series like IIRC Monster Hunter and Metal Gear Solid.

Yup, they use $100k nitrogen reflow ovens.

Borisu below is right. I've messed up so many boards with smd's or micro solders with a regular soldering iron thinking I can 'maybe' get it done.

Nope. If it's too small for a normal iron. Then you will 95% mess it up worse than it is currently broken. You gotta use instruments like hot-air guns for solders or those super special targetting ovens

I got the job done with a $200 chinese-made IR reflow oven.

Yep yep yep

Soldering can be done with a regular iron with

    99% success rate for (S)SOP / QFP;

70% success rate for QFN without the bottom pad.

de-soldering / BGA must be done with hot-air / oven.

Speaking of soldering... my (dad's) Hakko 926 is still alive and kicking! Been using it since the late 90's.... crazy stuff.

And I only had to change the tip once, broke while I was trying to cut epoxy with it when I was a kid. (yeah, I did loads of stupid stuff back then....)
