Heck, I was kinda interested in a used one of that, but after reading a thread about A&K, nope.

Summer's coming and I'll have to deal with my X3 sound... Or buy a more transparent sounding DAP...

You don't even know how your Noble IEMs will perform with the X3.

I'm hoarding.

Nah actually I'm trying to find a portable amp with adjustable bass boost 'cause the N4 supposedly doesn't have much bass. Further decision after I hear it myself.

O, unexpectedly I'm still watching Re-Kan

Kinda funny

I always wanted one of these...until i stopped caring about portable amps.

The older models are also pretty good and really not expensive (if you can find a refurbished one).

I also considered the Headstage Arrow before I have my Cayin C5 but not available in our Deutschland über alles.

But that one got DAC inside, I need no DAC.

And now other thicker portable amps are also more expensive, though could find it used but heck, only reason to justify buying thicker amp is because I'm often at the library

According to this person, the X5 doesn't drive low-impedance headphones very well.

I don't even know if it's possible to not be able to drive even low impedance phones...

That must hella be a bad player then.

Maybe he just doesn't like the FiiO sound but concluded it as "not being able to drive"

Or let him try high gain on his low imp phones and hurt his ears

15 minutes until GTA5 PC launch.
Blood, fire, chaos, tears and death threads inbound.
I lost faith in big PC releases a long time ago.

Surprisingly enough my PC is just enough to play it but I'd better use my friend's PS4. No lag

I'm a big advocate for drive ≠ quality in that thread. I guess many people equate the two...like that person. With the X5 delivering 150 mA maximum, and having an output impedance of < 0.3-ohms, it would be utter nonesense to say that it couldn't drive low-impedance loads. Whether or not it sounds good is a completely different story. I myself don't like the FiiO house sound, but I never say their products are unable to drive something as they tend to be mobile powerhouses.

Apparently loud volume ≠ drive too according to some people. The hilarious thing is that despite saying that, they never actually define what "drive" means, so their statements are pretty much dead on arrival really. Just like how speaker amps make planar magnetic headphones "shine" but they don't bother to test those same amps with other headphones and automatically assume that planar magnetic headphones are special or something in regards to amping.

Well, the numbers on the spec should already be scientifically proven, so it is indeed strange for someone to say otherwise.

Tbh I don't even know if I like FiiO house sound as well, but gotta deal with it for a while.

Bought it because I was still new back then, had no idea about anything. And if I were to define drive, I'll just say as long it's long enough.

Funnier, he also said "most common mistake"

The fiio house sound is fine for most, the noble 4 are crazy easy to drive. I drive my x5>n4 all the time without issue. If I turned my x5 all the way up with its volume I'd be pretty worried about blowing up my n4 plus you would be an idiot listening that loud. The x5>c5 is a pretty sweet pairing and a pretty popular pairing at CanJam, tried a c5 with my x5 and I really liked it with my Noble 4.
