Wait, you pay to board a specific train? You don't pay the fare to go to a specific destination, regardless of what train you take?

I think I have finished making my A2000X to fit properly...

Yup, really nice.

For once we get a show with a little girl in it that is not ridiculously oversexualized! No stupid loli **** is always a plus in my books.

I like her VA. Very fitting.

And even though this show takes place on the most inaka island ever, we still get the obligatory rotten girl :P
Oh that's who it was. The little girl reminds me of May from Totoro. XD

Akame Ga Kill episode 2... still bright and a tad happy but the fight scenes are nice and dark. Real sharp contrast, still can't tell if it works for me or not but something bout it does rub me the wrong way.

Yes. Also, they don't even cost the same because one has a bit longer route.

DRAMAtical Murder Episode 2

Better than the first episode but they need to work on the animation a bit better. Some scenes are well animated but other scenes not so much.

Still I'm excited that they've adapted some memorable scenes from the game.

It stays faithful to the original story with some little variations but at least Mizuki is getting more screen time than in the original story.

The highlight moment in this episode is Clear. He's still funny, cute and lovely as ever. :)

I feel like this show is more catered towards fans and people who have played the VN. People who have never played it will still get a bit confused in the anime.

I'm still a bit confused about why so many BL and yuri mangas/VNs get anime adaptations.

You know a lot more about this topic than me.
What do you think, is the main reason for people to play/read these mangas and VNs?
For the great stories? The 18+ action? Because it's different from your "normal" romance stuff? Personal sexual preference?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's the 18+ scenes. Most yaoi/yuri games I know of are clearly for adults.
But the thing is....these scenes NEVER make it into the anime adaptations. So why even make them in the first place when you don't put the stuff in it that the people like so much?
I don't want to imply that all yuri/yaoi fans are total hentai nerds or whatever, I really don't.
Just a bit confused :/

As it goes, they are sticking pretty closely to the manga, gags included. In which case the contrast is part of it, battles and death with a lighter side of life in between. Didn't like it at first, but it wasn't half bad.

And yes, I binged all 50 chapters in one sitting.

Tokyo ESP 1: Only part I liked was the Teleportation effect of the red girl, so good. But her clothes reminded me of someone in the Type-moon universe. Too lazy to check.

Aldnoah.Zero 2: yet another episode showing "Settings", OP enemies, the princess etc etc. Wonder when they actual action is going to start. Anti-Matter armor is really cool though.

I agree though it still hasn't clicked completely with me. It'll probably get better as more episodes come out.

Tokyo ESP: my only comment so far would be "..." gonna give it another episode but it's something I might drop.

Thing about anime originals is they always need time to pick up the pace. Story's coming together but I'll need a few more episodes before I make a solid decision. I like where it's going so far though.

That effect was really cool! I enjoyed this first episode a bit too much.....

If "actual action" means more and more lame ass mech fights than please never stop showing settings.
By now everyone got what this show is gonna be about so just start with the actual story already :(
I want twists and turns and all that good stuff! And a few fights here and there are totally fine by me.

Well if there is a strong fanbase there's no reason why it shouldn't be adapted.

But to answer your questions, as you know anime adaptations are marketing tools for the original content but for this genre maybe it's to draw in people who have interest in it. I won't say that hetero people will not enjoy these adaptations, I think they can if they stay open minded and aren't easily offended by the content.

As for the story, I only played 2 BL games (each of them has been adapted to anime) including DRAMAtical Murder and the story isn't groundbreaking to be honest, it's obviously no Shinsekai Yori.

With DMMd (VN Version), what makes it popular amongst fans of the genre is the charm of the characters.  It's not just because they're bishounen and good looking (IMHO they're impeccably designed) they have this special something that makes it easy to connect with them, to experience their feelings and to actually love the characters afterwards. It's then up to the director and the scriptwriter to properly adapt it to anime format.

Thinking that only the 18+ action is what makes it sell is a totally wrong cliché, otherwise you will have a 10 hour long adult video with no substance. It's the romance and the progression of their relationship that makes a good BL/Yuri VN. The 18+ action scenes are just compliments to the story and in no way makes the story.

Is it different from the normal romance stuff? Well apart that it's same sex I don't think it's that different. You fall in love with the girl or guy because he/she's good looking and/or is a nice dependable girl/guy. It's the same in real life. It all depends on your sexual orientation I guess (I don't have any preferences).

I understand why all the 18+ scenes are mostly left out but hey, at least they could put some kissing scenes or more explicit scenes but cut like in Hollywood movies where you don't see much but really 18+ scenes are not what makes it great.

I know that you have the extreme side of people like fujoshis and ... (what's the opposite of fujoshi?) who wants to see their favourite characters doing intercourse but there's a reason why they have favourites and that's not because of the 18+ scenes are better than this girl/guy 18+ scenes.

TL;DR: No, 18+ scenes are not the reason on why they're getting adapted. It's the romance part.

Took a bit of time writing this since I'm watching the World Cup final as I write this.

Ugh....why am I even asking questions like this? I already answered that for myself kind of. Somehow.
No I look like the most ignorant......whatever....
I totally see what you mean. I got fooled by all the 18+ ratings on VNDB and a lot of the mediocre scores.
Thanks for taking the time and writing all this :D
