Kinda like what you mentioned about Gosick's ending, but to know the whole story, you'd have to finish every single game in the series, 7-8 games in total iirc.

I tried playing the games but just can't stand the artwork..... a shame really.... :|
same goes for Tsukihime.....

At the airport eating smoked salmon... That is another thing I am going to miss when I leave UK for 2 month... ;_;

That's another thing that's kind of keeping me from watching it. Really not a fan of the artstyle.

Smoke some for yourself in wherever you are heading! I'm sure they have fish there.

Really? I thought the anime was pretty well done with 55 eps.

Couldn't say the same for many other game adaptations though......

I was expecting some kind of tsundere-loli Detective Conan but oh boy is it more than just that!

That show got super dark towards the end!

The mysteries themselves were alright, but the overarching story that connects them and the way everything plays out in the end was super cool!

The characters are solid, but nothing special.

You rarely get to see a setting like this (WWI and WWII), so that's a big plus.

It's really worth sitting through all the okay-ish parts in the first half of the show because the second one has so much to offer! Oh and the ending is cool too.

Really pleasantly surprised smily_headphones1.gif

Glad you liked that one TYG, it does have a slow start, I fell asleep watching the first episode twice... but it is one of my favorite series.

I stopped by because I read this on Amazon Japan and thought of you <3

"Tomihiko Morimi's novel “Uchoten-Kazoku” is getting its long-awaited anime adaptation! Koji Kumeta of “Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei” and “Joshiraku” proposes character designs for another's work for the first time. The animation production is being handled by P.A. Works, who has brought many masterpieces into the world such as “True Tears,” “Hana-Saku Iroha,” and “Tari Tari”!"

I didn't know the character designer was the same as Joshiraku's, SzS makes sense though. Also interesting, Bandai visual is putting english subs on region-free BD sets.... still, there are very few series I'd pay $50+/vol. for.... most are 7+ volumes!

The art is secondary, which is why it was classed as a Sound novel instead of a VN. I hated the design too, but a few hours in, the story, sounds(music, thumps, crunching) is just so captivating I actually stopped caring.

I still recommend the anime for the uninitiated. It tells the series to the general masses quite well, if you even get interested, you can always come back and play the games. There's a ton more content in them.

It is. It's very well done for what it set out to do, which is to condense the entire franchise into a single concise anime instead of fragments of stories through multiple individuals. But for me, it also takes away a lot of what the series is about, the monologues, the internal struggles and the constant idea that what you are reading/hearing is not actually real but a figment of the imagination is what makes it so great imo.

Someone should count how many times the name Victorique gets yelled out throughout the whole anime....felt like at least ten times per episode...

You should stop by more often, baka!

Hmmm now that you say that...does look kind of similar. I know some people here really really liked this show. Even though it doesn't sound all that interesting to me, I should check it out.
