I don't like it ever since they ramped it up in K-On S2, and don't like it even now (barring Free!!, with hot sexy man bods yum). I still don't like it when I tried with Tamako Market (except obese swagbird, so fly), I don't like it in KnK, I kind of like it in Free!! because it made otakus combust in flames.

So I think it's safe to say for me to hate not watch anything new from kyoani. Just like how SHAFT would join that list if they keep on only focusing stupid ass pretentious visuals ever since they found a literal oil reservoir.

I guess it's just a waste of ATP to tell you that Hyouka is different :/
The only moe character in it is Chitanda. The visuals in general are the best KyoAni ever came up with. They are using a lot of rather obscure stylistic devices, like drawing everything in pseudo-watercolor or make everything look like a shadowplay. Kind of like in SZS.
It's also totaly focused on the mystery part, unlike all the moe-centric shows KyoAni is producing now.

Sooooo yeah.....you might want to waste 24 minutes of your life and give the first episode a try.

Strict anti-alcoholic.

All this food you people posted pictures of, looks super expensive! Does it only look like that or did you guys blow millions of yen on noms there? :P

I recommend using Heisigs Kanji book with Anki and the definitions on kanji.koohi instead of using kanji.koohi's review feature.

Readreadreadread. If you don't like VNs much like me try to find raws of manga with furigana. Generally only shoujo and shounen have furigana though.......

Although with this method remembering the Kanji is easy, you'll have no idea of the readings. Speaking and listening comprehension are probably the most important things for us anyway though.

I also barely know any Japanese vocabulary....I still have a looooong way to go!
Thanks for the links ♥

Agreed.

I don't even think I will like the novel, but the animation is too well made.

Watching an iDOLM@STER One For All stream. Not bad, although I'm not  sure what to think of gameplay changes (f. ex. they removed tension, which makes dialogues having no influence on gameplay.).

On the other hand, I can't play it anyway, so I'm not really knowledgable about the mechanics as actual players, so whatever. :-P

Also, not really liking M@STERPIECE (although it's the iM@S movie song, but for the first time in game), but ONLY MY NOTE is pretty nice actually.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
The guy is actually streaming for over 24 hours now, BTW. o_O

I think knowing around 1500 is considered "sufficient".

I know more than 1500 Kanji, but that doesn't mean I can read it in Japanese! I read Hiragana/Katakana the way they are meant to be read, and read the Kanji in Cantonese. Genius!

For some reason, I feel like Japanese will never establish itself as a language in my brain like English and Cantonese/Chinese has. I'll read/hear a Japanese word/phrase and desperately try to remember its English equivalent. All in all, it takes at least 5 seconds for me to understand it, or it rings a bell but I don't understand it and have to look it up in the dictionary.

Conversely, I can easily read English (a second language for me) in cases like these:

Curses!

Regardless of what Hyouka might do to me, Chaika seems to do everything inherently right, but I just can't put a finger on why. Maybe it's the characters Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
(at first I'm a bit leery with Red Chaika, what with her being feisty and slightly a bit more sexier, but I kind of like her by ep. 6.)
, maybe it's the "what does a mercenary worth in a time of peace?" theme going on, or maybe just the ecchilessness of it all that's to be expected in most fantasy anime recently. And especially more when that fantasy setting has lolis in it. The fight scenes are also very well done: highly dynamic, and at times very hectic, but done so well that I had no trouble following it all.

It's a wholesome package that's seemingly complete with a nice balance of likable characters, not too complex plot, enjoyable fights, and real funny banter (not the sorry excuse of conversations in Brainhill in the derpness, according to screenshots of QUALITY dialogue).

Other than JoJo, Chaika is my most looked forward to anime, moreso than Sidonia at this point.

Orly. I just heard it's getting another season at some point so I'm probably going to have to pick it up now.

Just watched Patema Inverted. OK film. Obviously not on the same level as the director's previous works. Actually would have said it was a bad film if it didn't improve remarkably midway through.

Gundam UC 7 today. So excite. Also expecting a Perfect Grade Unicorn announcement. (insert heaving breathing cat here).
