What makes you think that this is not going the yuri route?

Cat fights with daggers,

And the genre is yuri.

True. Favorite anime of one of my friends.
Haven't watched it yet but it seems to tackle the whole loli assassin thing completely different. In a way that is a lot more appealing to me btw :P

Gunslinger Girl is also quite a lot better, at least from the 3 episodes of Akuma no Riddle I have watched so far.

Will, Sidonia definitely took an unexpected turn. Also, judging by the amount of girls around the MC, please please please don't turn into a harem anime.... Please.

Chaika's animation for action scenes are very well drawn and fluid. Finally, an action anime with actual fights instead of cop-out "flash-step" crap.

I'm liking Black Bullet a lot

One of the things it's doing isn't new with the cursed children, but the way its going about doing it puts our current society's morals into perspective.

Our society today has but barely evolved from the previous times. Brainwashed still, and blinded by government. You look at the victorian era etc during that time, when the rich treated the poor as rags. You ask the students if that was right. And everyone is like WTF? You teach them about the Hitler era and on how others treated them and what it was like during that time. And everyone was like WTF.

But once they leave class, they stop thinking now. I see it everyday. People KNOW about this, people can identify bias, but once they leave class. Boom, they forget it.

Society of today BLAMES the poor, it DOESN'T HELP people who are DIFFERENT. You WILL conform, through schooling, OR through MEDICINE. People always say WTF when they see how others were treated back then, but they constantly do it. The poor are treated as a disease, aren't helped, and people will consistently BLAME them even though it is the system they are using and abusing to get rich, prosper, and to create an even bigger divide.

Communism, socialism is seen as something to kill and destroy here in America. And very much so here. Yet, I find, at the basis of socialism, it promotes an ideal that is something that we as humans take to be an absolute truth. I am not saying that everyone is a socialist at heart. I am rather saying that systems, and doctrines of many different systems in history all point towards the human will, psyche, and what we truly believe in. And a peice of each of them, all add together to get to what we are.

I hear comments like "China isn't truly Communist". That doesn't mean anything. It's just a basis of government one can change day in and day out. It is rather a government saying that it is the standard that they will in a way, believe in.

We BLAME those that are the foundation of our society without truly realizing how WRONG our perception is. We here on HF are of the priveleged masses. We are university students, studying in degrees, and on a forum for accessories that costs an amount people in other countries can never dream of. Our perception of the world and society is thus of one in where we are and do things. But this is so wrong. THE true foundation of our modern society is of our masses. The poor, the privlegdeg few who toil away, make our food, and hope for a better future. But rather than helping them. We spit at them, we BLAME them for our problems...all while laughing the way to the bank.

Black Bullet isn't doing anything completely new, but it has a VERY large focus on the cursed children which draws parallels with society of today. And how we place blame into things we don't understand, and things that are our foundation, and yet are things that we scoff at.

The human race and kind, despite thousands of years past barbarism. Has yet to change.

As always, amazed at how you can see so much in anime...

All I ever saw in Black Bullet were lolis and powers.

I doubt what most of anime is doing is as deep as what I am analyzing, But its in-intention is also part of my discussion

In how people get self indoctirnated into the current state of the world. And thus the media they create reflect the reality they see and are put witness to.

What did you think of my post? (I'm assumgin you read it). I like to talk here...and hopefully have people debate or talk etc

I agree with most of your points above panda, just not that it's what's intended in Black Bullet.

I believe Black Bullet is trying to delve into the psyche that we humans fear and hate the Unknown. That if we do not acknowledge or accept something, it is immediately seen as an abomination. The Cursed Children are powerful, and are our last bastion of defense against extinction, but are instead treated as "tools". Instead of keeping them happy("I'm hungry"), they are hunted and exiled, making them have literally no reason to come to anyone's rescue is schiit really hits the fan. Like the Masked Man said, if this is how we treat our saviours, sometimes you have to take time to wonder, are we really worth protecting?

I just saw a post on the forum for my university about a student looking for a Taiwanese or Taiwan Supporting club on campus. He knows there is a Chinese Student Association but doesn't want to join it.

WTF? Who does he think he is? Taiwan is officially the Republic of China.

Not to mention, the Chinese Student Association on campus is actually comprised heavilly of Taiwanese people...... (there are lots of Chinese on campus, but most are legit Chinese intl Chinese, and they don't typically join clubs that don't factor into academics or sports)

It's idiotic to ruffle feathers or anything. That's why they call it the CSA and what not.

The CSA is an organization that does events with tens of other CSA organizations in the entire region. Recently hosting an event in where hundreds of Chinese Student Assocations came to VT (it changes location every year).

But here comes this guy. Asking to not join the 'Chinese' one....

This is like saying Mexians speak Mexican, or differenting clubs of America by North American etc.

@Tom Yum Goong

And here, you see one of those fine times where I give my opinion. There is one faulty thing about me that I can't change. I am heavilly Chinese and patriotic in a sense towards my identity. This creates massive feelings, bias, and patriotism within me that even I fail to stop.

It is my weakness but I try.

Feel free to crack a grin. That the all-mighty panda can not keep it up forever...that sometimes. I need to give a serious beating to those that piss me off.

Of course of course. I mentioned in my post just now, that a lot of what anime does that I write about isn't done on purpose, but rather. Is a reflection in how deeply intergrated modern society has made people. That even the faults, and mal-practices of our society is reflected in our media.

The Fear of the Unknown is one of the strongest fears that humans have.  In-acceptance. Us vs them. Patriotism.
