I heard it's executed pretty well.
But based on the synopsis, I won't touch this show with a ten feet pole :P

Watch it. The premise in like Mondaiji ga Kuru, but better execution, also art and animations are amazing, especially the slow-mo scenes

Hmmm... Amazon.jp is having a half-price sale for Canon Kiss X50 and Nikon D5100.(well, sale for ones in my budget, anyway) Might be a good idea to upgrade my camera. biggrin.gif

I assume you're invested into Nikon's ecosystem right? Because for the most part I don't see the need for DSLR anymore for semi amateur use.

I'm currently using a NEX-3 which I got for ~$190 a year back. Was just considering it as these are pretty good deals as opposed to "2nd hand" stuff you can find locally

Hmm I see.

That's the thing though. Don't know where else I can shop locally. There's the obvious well known forum for almost reliable second hand items, but for new stuff online? No idea. There's shashinki. But quite expensive.

The current Canon line-up is pretty okay for amateur use, and Nikon one too, both deliver a good  image quality at the end of the day and have good lenses, but i gotta say, the mirrorless system evolved pretty fast since it's launch, i guess now a days i would have a Sony A7R, what an amazing camera.

24" monitor, 1920x1080. That's ~92PPI.

Retina display macbook, 2880x1800 at 15.6" That's ~221PPI

Of course the one with more than double the pixel density of the other one is going to be more crisp...

I really don't understand the resolution race right now, at least on phones. It's not completely bad, because it pushes SOC and other graphics hardware companies to push how much power their GPUs but QHD and higher on a tablet or a phone is really puzzling to me.

Really sad too to see how phones have these higher resolutions before desktops and laptops when phones are the weaker of the three.

Even that though, I'm sure that anyone that's casual about it won't be lugging around that amateur gear for long. IMO it will be because of the weight; the ease of sharing the pictures, which is important to most people; and being "lied" to or "cheated" of the promise for better photos associated with bigger cameras just because most won't want to invest the time to learn.

I admit that my few hands on with Sony's full frame mirrorless cameras left me salivating, and that's great and all, but it's mostly aimed at enthusiasts first. Even then though, arguably it's mostly because of pixel peepers and epeen strokers that are super stoked with them. From what I find when I was looking for my mirrorless, the more artsy people would go for Fuji's system, more video centric ones goes for Panasonic's, those that want as close to a DSLR can be but less weight would go M43 either with Olympus (the majority) or Panasonic (excluding the mentioned videographers).

I don't know what's the point of my rant though, but it's supposed to be something about how more obsolete DSLR are becoming outside of truly professional niches.

Glorious 2-ton-bricks-on-our-desk race* I think that's what you mean.

But yeah, CRT is still basically unrivaled for refresh rates. Only problem is how heavy those bricks are.

I'm not hipster enough to ever go that route.

Yeah, Summer Wars and its refresh rate fricking 10million USD CRT tv....but seriously.... never will I be hipster enough to use CRT's.

I hate the ARIA concept. But maybe one day I might try it.
