I've seen worse mascots in my life.

Well, that's exactly what I expected to be honest. From here on afterwards, she will be Uni-chan.

Man, braiding cables is actually pretty fun, although I'm not great at it. It's braided so unevenly and terribly :(

So that was the first episode of Mekakucity Actors.....

SHAFT NECKS!!!
I'm hooked.

The story was okay and looks promising, the characters seem interesting and likeable and the visuals......hhhhhhnnnnggggg!
I love SHAFTs style so much. If the story turns out to be lame (if it does, I'll never admit it), I'll keep watching just for the visuals.

Off to the second Life is still Beautiful (or whatever it is called) episode!

Nice. I remember using DarwiinRemote for Mac with one. XD

Speaking of Wii remotes, Super Smash Bros. Brawl + Wii Remote = fail.
I was at a gaming event yesterday: Project M on one projector, Super Smash Bros. on another projector, Super Smash Bros. Melee on a laptop with a USB GameCube controller adaptor, Super Smash Bros. Brawl on a WiiU with a HD TV. That was pretty epic, but my left thumb hurts from using a broken GameCube controller for playing some intense Melee matches (I had to press up on the joystick too since I'm used to pressing X, and the X button was gone). I miss good 'ol Bumblebee Ness and Goth Dr. Mario combos.

Oh wow, is it that bad/disappointing?

Well, I thought the original PV art for the songs of the series looked better...and less Shaft esque.

Well what I mean by "original" is the not-so-Shaft-looking characters in those two series. As seen down below, the art is basically the same as the monogatari series. The eyes, the expressions...

Still disappointed... considering how much hype it had with certain Japanese audiences, I hoped that maybe they might give a larger budget to this project, but alas it's a bit lackluster. It strives to be a Monogatari copycat (in style and finesse) yet fails to do so leaving it as a sort of hybrid creature. Well anyways, I hope it goes in the right direction.

At the end of the year I'll have about 95% of the credits needed to graduate for my program. Just need to write my thesis and I'm done.

Why am I doing this?

What are you looking to get out of University? What do you want to do in the future?

This can have a big impact on what you do with your university life.

For many people, spending less time on studies could and would actually be better.

Yes, I could give myself an uber workload. But I don't want to be a researcher, grad student etc.  I want to either work at a major company, or start my own company.

That's why I'm doing almost everything else right now at University.

I'm currently working an internship, applying for one for the summer. I'm also about to become the represenative for about 10,000 students on campus to the studen council (which I am also in). Past that, I am also an executive member of a business club and am an executive member of my residential student organization. Also in animation society, another business club as a regular member and gonna be donig more next semester.

As an engineer for the future. Companies here could have two schiits that you have a 4.0 GPA. It's about selling yourself with internships, experience, and dedication to other talents and work.

And what exactly was it that you expected from this anime?
So far, I'm absolutely fine with it.
It doesn't look like it's going to be a new Monogatari season, sure, but I don't think that is what they are going for.
The visuals look like this because it's made by SHAFT. Nothing much to talk about there, except that it does not look as good as the Monogatari animes. Is that a bad thing? I don't think so. It still looks mighty fine to me.
I'm not quiet sure what you mean by hybrid creature. It is inspired by the Monogatari series, but almost every new anime that gets released these days is inspired by another one. There is no shame in that unless they are blatantly copying the other show. This is not the case here, if you ask me.

All I want to say is that treating this show as some kind of new season of the Monogatari series is not really appropriate.

Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii really is a lot better than I expected it to be.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Okay, her song at the end was a bit meh. Especially the kind-of electronic music in the background felt a bit out of place. This anime is set ina medival world :/

Nice TYG, will watch later

Just finished recruitment today morning so now I have time for anime. Have a LOT OF anime that came out today and yesterday  that I like :D

I've spent all morning dressed up at an Univ fair recruiting potential students. We targeted females this time around. Oh gosh, 3/4 of them were so attractive.

I assume with "here" you mean the Land of the Free....because life doesn't work like this here (most of the time).
There are not nearly as many councils etc that one could join here at my university.

I'm really glad that the .moe domain is going to be a thing.

Spent ~6 hours last night (midnight to 6AM) at one of my senpai's houses who just graduated. He's moving next week and just got back from a Japan trip, so he was looking to downsize his collection of stuff. Probably walked out with $200 worth of shizzle. XD

What I expected? I expected something better than what I got on the first episode. Choppy animation (the keyboard scene... really Shaft?), reused character models (Ene's body isn't supposed to look... well, so big. I'm seeing the same faces as the Monogatari series just different hair and clothes), etc. I'm not bashing on Shaft, but sometimes, their "signature techniques" get a bit cliched.  What I wanted was a series that wasn't too heavily reliant on these old techniques. At first glance, when I watched Madoka, my mind did not automatically link it to the Monogatari series although it did hold signature Shaft elements. With Mekakushi Actors, I do. That's probably the biggest flaw I see.

By hybrid creature, I meant that if they really wanted to go with the Monogatari style, they should go all out. More transitions, More cryptic symbols. etc. Right now it's neither Monogatari Shaft style nor is it the standard anime style.

But ultimately, as a first episode, it didn't draw me in. I didn't feel the connection I did with the PVs the series was based on/the manga. It was boring.

That's my take on the series based on the first episode. and I weigh my first impressions pretty heavily. All my opinion of course. I do hope it can pick itself back up.

Much more comfortable than sitting with my back hunched over the touchpad.

That reminds me...

I need to get one of these. From what I've heard, they're slightly lower in quality than the original Nintendo ones but I don't have to worry about getting a gamecube to USB adapter that needs another driver to work (Mayflash is the recommended brand).

I'll probably end up with a PS4 controller because it comes with partial X-input support which some people have taken advantage of (DS4Tool).
