Huh...interesting.

That is interesting. Grado has always danced to their own drum, their unique setup matches their unique sound signature it seems.

@miceblue: on your most recent post in the Geek Pulse thread. I read the new part of the Schiit happened story and saw the below quote:

"Where they fit in the line. Are the new products upmarket? Downmarket? Why would someone buy the new product? What need does it fill that the others don’t. Note: “I wanted to try this crazy new topology” isn’t a recipe for logical product line. And you do want to have a product line that makes sense—one where you don’t have products that overlap each other and cause confusion. Having a 1W Class A amp, and a 1.1W Class AB amp, and a 0.9W Class S amp probably doesn’t make a lot of sense."

Battle lines have been drawn :-P

And what's so special about Schiit's products exactly? All the ones I've tried sound meh and they get extremely warm. XD

As far as I'm concerned, Geek Out was meant to provide better sound than the on-board soundcard of most computers while providing enough power to drive audiophile-approved headphones. What does the Magni/Modi accomplish? Did it have a clear goal and market? Was it to compete against the ODAC and O2, which were created by the guy who criticised Schiit for not having a protective relay in their units?

Geek Pulse was built from consumer's demands for a more desktop friendly version of Out with more input and output connections. The features of Pulse were formed from the demands of the customers. What was the goal of Ragnarok and Yggdrasil?

Geek Aria was something Light Harmonic had since launching their Out campaign: to have a smartphone-friendly DAC/amp using Out as their main base for the sound, just like the Pulse.

None of this stuff is new, for any company really. Light Harmonic is packing a ton of DAC features into the Geek Out at a relatively low price, a ton of features into the Pulse at a relatively low price (including their add-ons that only $1000+ audio systems have), and a ton of features into the Aria at an assumed relatively low price in the form factor of the famous Headstage Arrow amps (read: amps, not DAC/amp). Name 1 other portable DAC/amp that has similar features as the Aria; I can't think of any.

What is Schiit doing to move the industry forward? From what I see, I don't see anything innovative about their products other than they're "Made in America." Light Harmonic has published test results against competitors' products and the Out sweeps the floor. I don't see Schiit doing anything too special and nothing about their products have really enticed me into buying one of their products. Am I supposed to buy into their Vali tube amp, which is infamously known to have microphonics and a squealing noise when you first plug in your headphone? I think I'll pass on that.

Lol, that is an interesting tour of the Grado factory. Too bad I think their headphones suck, and I would never touch any of their phono cartridges with a 10 foot pole.

I like how they're using a Technics turntable to test their higher end carts even though Technics are regarded as inferior by audiophools who like schiit that breaks easily, and some of the lower end grados have really bad humming because they have NO shielding against humming from turntable motors.

Whoa now, looks like you had something to say! haha.

I was more alluding to your saying there were too many pico, super, whever Geek Outs. In a way, they all overlap eachother just like he mentions in the quote..... the arguement there is: if there is a market for a 50mA Geek Out, and you can make them without much if any added cost to the other products you're making...why not?

I love this show.
I assume this is some kind of super obscure reference that I'll never get. Or just the usual randomness.

I'd be interested to see what you think of the Violectrics gear, I was very close to buying a V200 but decided I didn't want to spend quite that much.

Golden Time Final Episode

The episode had some issues with execution but most of it was due to the fact that they took this directly from the LN, and had to get early access to the LN's to even make this episode.

The

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
final bridge scene

of this episode was also a bit weird in how it was executed in that it seemed like stuff you would see in a novel that you would read, rather than in an anime. I'll take this as further proof of them hurrying through and animating from the LN.

The final episode of Golden Time relied on a joining together of its themes rather than in trying to maximize feels. I'm ok with that, but it also leaves some weird plot holes here and there.

Overall, Golden Time was a pretty solid anime for western anime watchers that want a more realistic romance of types. The anime relies heavilly on subtle themes, and characterizations that are generally ignored. You can practically say that the anime is like a novel in a way due to how it continuously regurgitates its characterization and character flaws on screen to you, and in the reactions and events that happen.

Imperial Scale:

Plot: 6.5/10

Execution: 7/10

Art/Animation:5.5/10

Music/OST: 6.5/10

Theme and Theme Excution: 8.5/10

Enjoyability: 8.5/10

Overal: 7/10 on imperial scale.

Oh that post. I thought you were referring to the one I mentioned Schiit in. Ah well. XD

I don't know if their Pico/Micro ideas are being incorporated into the Aria. It sounds like they might be in some aspects since people wanted a battery-operated version of Out for iOS devices (with the infamous "your connected device draws too much power" notification) and less power output for sensitive headphones (Aria outputs 90 mW at 16 Ω). It also sounds like they're planning to make a stripped-down version of Out, whatever that product name will be, at a lower cost, which sounds reasonable to me. Why get an iPod Touch if all you need is a Shuffle, kind of thing.

I'm getting one of the V2xx's from them.

I was asked about their ultra end ones, but I don't have the balanced headphones or experience to do those in that price range. So the V200's it was

Just confirmed this for why the last episode was so weird with execution and trying to cram stuff in (and in a way that novels typicall do it). Because the last book which the producers had to get an early look at is over 400 pages long and would take what some are saying about 8 normal anime episodes to cover. The anime did it in 2.5 eps.

Lol well I hope you feel better now after getting all of that out there.

@Panda: It's sad that they had to literally cram stuff in... wish they could have done what Bakemonogatari or Kokoro Connect did and say F-the-12-episode restriction and released episodes 13-15 as OVA.... but I think you need a special budget and installed fan base to pull that off.
