They could have been available yesterday if your professors meet the deadlines. XD

Meh, they were, but I only bothered to look at my GPA today. XD
They said 85% would get me "at least 3.0" and I got a 3.4 biggrin.gif

On another note, up to episode 7 of Hyouka. Quite like it!
I always feel creepy watching them, especially when they're young girls. Madoka is good though.

Apparently I won a Geek Out from their CES participation thingamabob, so I'll be getting one of those soon-ish hopefully. Blue Geek Out for normal use, silver Super-Duper Geek Out (once I fill out the survey) for not-sensitive headphones. I'm still curious what the current limits are for the Geek 1000 for driving planar magnetic headphones. The LCD-X is very efficient, but it's a current-limited headphone.

So much Geek. You aren't going to get too much current out of a usb port, does the geek out have auxiliary power from a wall-wart or something?

I guess we weren't lucky enough to beta test for them.

As an "sorta early backer" I'm pretty miffed that they shipped the Geek Out 1000s first instead of following the early/sorta early backers lost. Also excited about getting mine, but mostly just miffed

But does it conserve battery life while not in use? I imagine that it would do so much better than any phone, even if it had a power-saving/sleep mode due to it using power primarily when in use for the amp.

I just happened to run across it on a streaming site, and the name threw me off :D

Never knew it existed prior to that, but I'll give it a shot!

Anyone ever watch Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai?

Saw the first couple of episodes. Very FLCL-ish, but produced by MAdhouse. Doesn't sell it's message as well as FLCL; the characters are very well written but lack dynamics, and the plot isn't weird enough. Still, it's a load of fun to watch, and there's plot depth for the overly-sensitive and self-critical.

As music sales have dwindled over the years, artists have increasingly turned to making special editions of their albums to entice hardcore fans to spending more hard-earned cash — but there's never been an album quite like what Wu-Tang Clan is cooking up. In addition to releasing a 20th anniversary album this summer called A Better Tomorrow, the hip-hop collective also recorded a double album in secret over the last two years — and is only releasing one single copy of it.

As reported by Forbes, Once Upon A Time In Shaolin will be encased in a silver and nickel box crafted by British-Moroccan artist Yahya and will probably sell for millions of dollars. However, before it is sold, the one-of-a-kind album will tour the world as many other famous pieces of art do, with stops at museums, galleries, and potentially music festivals. Fans will be charged a cost to attend a "listening event," where they'll get a chance to hear the album on headphones after being carefully screened for recording materials.

"We're about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of [modern] music," says Wu-Tang Clan member Robert "RZA" Diggs. "We're making a single-sale collector's item. This is like somebody having the scepter of an Egyptian king."

One that exhibition tour is compete, Wu-Tang Clan will sell the album for an unspecified price in the millions of dollars — from there, its owner will be free to do what it wants with it. While it's too early to say who will shell out the cash for this unique item, Forbes speculates that brands may be interested in the cachet of having this exclusive album; another option may include a wealthy collector purchasing it and either liberating the audio for the masses or keeping the songs for themselves.

"The idea that music is art has been something we advocated for years," says RZA. "And yet its doesn't receive the same treatment as art in the sense of the value of what it is, especially nowadays when it's been devalued and diminished to almost the point that it has to be given away for free." Whether or not Wu-Tang Clan is able to find enough people who want to go experience their album in a museum to make an impact remains to be seen — as does the viability of a multi-million dollar unique pressing of that album, but the group is OK with its plan going awry. "It might totally flop, and we might be completely ridiculed," says co-producer Tarik "Cilvaringz" Azzougarh "But the essence and core of our ideas is to inspire creation and originality and debate, and save the music album from dying."

This is interesting. It's crazy, and that's why I like it.

Before Sailor Moon there was also a magical girl anime/manga called Cutie Honey by Go Nagai, who also pioneered the mecha and ecchi genres.

I had this on a list ages ago and never got around to watching it then lost my list ;( . Thanks for the reminder! I added it to my new (getting depressingly long) list of stuff I'd like to check out.

I guess we weren't lucky enough to beta test for them.
USB ports can supply up to 500 mA usually. The Geek Out doesn't have its own auxiliary power, but you can amplify the incoming current with transistors and whatnot. Light Harmonic was using the Geek 1000 to drive LCD-XCs at CES, so I'm guessing the current output must be pretty decent since the LCD-XC is more sensitive than the LCD-2.2 and is at a lower impedance (23 ohms is quite low for a full-size headphone). The O2 can supply 200+ mA.

I'm not too worried about being a beta tester honestly. We'll all get it eventually. tongue.gif

From a manufacturing aspect it makes more sense to do one variant at a time to start, but yeah it's kind of lame otherwise.

Ah, it's no big deal, thankfully I still got a decent grade in CS so my chances of getting in aren't completely shot.

Here are some pictures of my K-ON vinyls! More to come when I actually play them.

Yes, the DOF it too shallow. The lighting in my room sucks which requires me to shoot at low f-stops, so deal with it. (Click to show)

So much moe! I'm a little jealous, I totally would have gotten in on that with everyone else if I thought I'd actually listen to them :-P
