Bake is more of the theme based, artsy hipster, POV anime while the rest are dialogue and fan service based ones

Ok, I'll go with your recommendation then :o

Nah, the ones I'm downloading are just 720p quality. 1080 is a bit too large for me!

I read them every time TYG and nod my head in approval most of those times.

I was starting to get the same feeling with my micro-reviews. If no one acknowledges it, I feel like I'm just wasting space. If they need to be more micro let me know. I can just do a pic and a score if that's just as useful as me giving a short spoiler-free impression.

Oh I'm enjoying your reviews! Really well written and the usually just don't leave any questions unanswered :P
I don't even know how you find all these rather unknown animes all the time.

Ok good, you start to wonder sometimes. I don't believe the "well written" comment for one second however, years of teachers telling me I can't write are proof enough of that... but thank you lol.

I have a number of anime sources, mostly online acquaintances, and I constantly write down anime that get mentioned that I am not familiar with. Eventually I look into those series and weed out ones that look uninteresting and add the others to a plan to watch list. I had that list down to like 5 series but it's back up to like 15 frown.gif If I was picky I would have run out of stuff to watch ages ago.

....and on the topic for Nisemonogatari. Nise was important in tying Bake 1 and 2 together, but more important was the continuing relationship between Koyomi and Shinobu. (IMO) In the grand scheme of things, all of monogatari is about those two and how their relationship develops, and that bathtub scene in Nise was a landmark moment as far as that's concerned.

The movie, Kizumonogatari, will likely drive the above ideas home for me.

Objection!
Nisemonogatari is the only fanservice "focused" one.
Nekomonogatari is super great and Monogatari Series: Second Season is even better than Bakemonogatari.

I can't wait for the movie later this year!

I'm gonna have to disagree with that

Bakemonogatari felt a lot cleaner in its presentation. The Second Season got a little too ambitious, and as a result the word play/script was nowhere near as interesting or as witty as Bakemonogatari, or even Nisemonogatari. The reason for this being was due to the fact that Second Season was too plot centered in its approach, whereas Bake and Nise took a more playful and intelligent approach, and just let the story line flow along. I also believe that the plot in Second Season was a little too convoluted, and none of it felt very genuine or natural compared to Bake. The only thing Second Season has over Bake is the ending and production values.

get some

I agree with most of your points. I would add the caveat that SS had to feel disjointed because that's how the LN were written, there are all these inter-woven concurrent events. While they didn't do the BEST job translating that to anime, I think it was admirable and a hell of a lot better than it could have been.

.... that being said, I have had several hour skype discussions with friends trying to get what-happened-when straightened out xD

Maybe I'm just used to reading sub-par MAL reviews :P

I'm mostly looking for new stuff to watch on MAL.

That's true. Skipping Nise is a bad idea if you wan't to watch Monogatari SS.

Now that you say it, it did feel cleaner.
But to me, the stories are at least equally as good/well executed.

I would require all the Rammstein in return

I don't know why, but out of every place I have heard German, Rammstein makes it sound best.

I just ordered 2 840 EVO 250GB drives. I'll be sure to rage at the packaging when I get them Panda wink.gif

...on that topic...

@Panda: Interesting points on PLS and I agree with the feeling that the show doesn't seem to know if it wants to be dark or not. You can do both but it takes a delicate touch to balance them out,

@Panda²/Bucket: My Bakemonogatari rip is like 25GB, those look like the good anime-marathoning sized ones he's getting to me.

I think the show has some real ability to be a good watch though

Also notice how cheap the metal (if they even are) are on the drives AND be sure to note how bad of a printing job they did on the metal, it looks like schiit with semi-washed out colors.

Ah yes, this is better. Now we're finally back to normal posting speed! Just like the good ol' days!

LOL, I know the feeling. Why do they have to make these alarms loud enough to kill your ears in a matter of minutes??? -_-

Banks had better watch their backs.

The rising generation of young Americans not only have little loyalty to banks, according to a three-year survey of
10,000 people born between 1981 and 2000 — many also believe that traditional financial institutions are on their
way to irrelevance.
Over half (53%) of millennials say that nothing sets their personal bank apart from its competitors, according to
the survey by Scratch, a brand consultancy division of Viacom. One in three said that they would consider
switching to a new bank within the next 90 days. And the nation's four-largest banks — JPMorgan Chase (JPM),
Bank of America (BAC), Wells Fargo (WFC) and Citigroup (NYSE:C) — are among the 10 least-loved brands in
the survey, which asked respondents for their impressions of 73 companies in 15 industries.
Young people may be adopting a blasé attitude toward banks because they believe the current financial system is
on the way out. Roughly half of respondents said that they are "counting on tech start-ups to overhaul the way
banks work," according to the survey. Sixty-eight percent said that the way people access money will be
completely different within five years, while 70% said that the way people make purchases will change drastically
within that time frame.
Given these technological changes, 33% of respondents predicted that they won't need a bank at all in the future.
An overwhelming majority (73%) report that they would be more excited about new financial services options from
Google, Amazon, Apple, PayPal or Square than from their own nationwide bank.

I just read this. As I am on the far end of the millennial birth year range, I was curious what some of you youngins closer to the median age think.

Perfectly happy Chase bank customer here. I'm guessing most of those surveyed youths were talking about liking credit unions over big banks. All my friends that use credit unions have been really unsatisfied/had horrific experiences with them. As far as I'm concerned, banks will always be useful until Google and the other companies let us deposit money to the bank of Google, but I doubt that will happen. At the same time, until one of the big banks releases some nice form of online payment system, the techie stuff won't go away any time soon. Oh how I'd love to use NFC on my phone to pay with my debit card at a restaurant or whatever, but I doubt that'll happen any time soon.

Japan's always done stuff like this, pay premium to be first, unlike the rest of the audiophile business where you get a discount if you get it first. Weird schiit, but I'm not complaining. smily_headphones1.gif

Weird...

Looks like the TE-05 has already dropped about 1200 yen too!

I've read Symphonic Rain, Rewrite, Katahane, Tsukihime, Fate/Stay Night, Clannad and Katawa Shoujo.

I've watched The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, YuruYuri, Clannad + After Story, Carnival Phantasm, Fate/Zero, K-On, Kyoukai no Kanata, Lucky Star, Shingeki no Kyojin, Soul Eater and Sword Art Online.

Oh gosh, where to start?

VNs: Planetarian (short and sweet VN from KEY), Saya no Uta, Tomoyo After if you didn't mind Tomoyo (I didn't like her that much but still loved this VN), Ever 17, Steins;Gate (the VN or the anime, both are great), G-senjou no maou, Higurashi (has an anime as well), Umineko, and more I can't think of atm. If you need some links to any, PM me. ;)

Anime: The Haruhi Movie (if you haven't seen this, you HAVE to watch it NOW), Angel Beats!, Cowboy Bebop, Madoka Magica, Toradora, Code Geass, Ghost in the Shell, Kanon, Death Note, Anohana, Garden of sinners, again, so many more I could list off... I just went through and looked at what I rated highly on my MAL and weeded out what I thought you might not like.

I would seriously recommend downloading just the first episode of Bake and first of Nise or whatever and giving it a go. Bake is different from the rest and Nise more or less characterizes everything else.

Some love this series, I and a few others on this thread, dislike them.

Isn't it just you and rikkun that don't like the monogatari series? I thought everyone else around here liked it or adored it.

Yeah I actually dropped PLS after 2 eps because I was following too many shows but half-heartedly kept watching and once I was able to drop Samurai Flamenco it found a spot lol.

The writing on the drives is schiity too!? *cancels order*. I'll let you know, for SSD I have 2 Patriots, 1 Kingston, and 1 Crucial. So far the Crucial was the cheaped in build, but it was an early 40GB drive.

How conservative of you MechG. Get with the times, store all of your money in shoe boxes.
