How's the warranty?

I doubt it's just a blown capacitor, something made it blow, and that probably took out something else as well. If you send it in for repair, they're just going to replace the whole logic board.

I was just looking at that, the warranty only (I think) applies to people in China which is where it was bought. Looks like I'm out of luck. The cap or resistor or w/e it is seems to be really hard to get (unless I want 5k of them from Digikey).

Marking down a tablet somewhere to buy, any suggestions?

What OS do you want, Android or Windows 8?

I honestly don't use mine much anymore since they don't work on the go very well and at home the STAX stomp them.

But they're the most damn comfortable things evar so I usually use them when I'm playing VNs and shizzle.

I now have a really good pair of open cans, and have a decent pair of IEMs, so am looking for something in between. I thought that these seemed to fit the bill quite nicely, and those pads looked to-die-for. My 'portable' tends to be less around the town, and more long drives/flights to random places far away. These looked like a nice option to bring a nice audiophile sound on my adventures, and I have an iBasso D12 that I think should power them pretty well. Now to earn the last $100 or so...

Hmm, I tried the Mad Dogs on a flight once... Never again. They do isolate well, but not as well as some good IEMs. For car rides and stuff like that, they should be fine. I've also stuffed them in a suitcase on almost all my vacations and they're still kicking. And I like the replaceable V-Moda cable too. Are you gonna buy them new from Dan or used?

Sigh, now to decide on my next upgrade: Should I buy a universal 1964 V3, a better pair of speakers, or save up for a certain Head-fi member's new flagship closed back can he's been teasing me about?

I was going to buy them new, and possibly top it off with a Moon Audio cable (maybe).

And what is this new flagship you speak of?

Yeah, Windows 8 is good, considering you can install Android on it anyway and get both!

If you are looking for something cheap, maybe look at the Dell Venue 8 pro? If you can wait a bit and spend a little bit more, look at Lenovo's new 8" Win8 tabs that have 1920*1200 displays.

Pfft, custom cables are NOT worth it from Moon Audio. And besides they would have to have a custom connector or you'd have to modify the housing on the T50RP in order to get any of the DIY connectors to actually fit it.

Moon Audio offers cables with the Mad Dog AND the Alpha Dog connectors. XD And why are they not worth it? I heard a pair of HD600s with a Blue Dragon and they sounded much better than with the stock cable. Is it simply because there are much better ones (I don't have much experience with different cables)?

Also, those mods look super nice as well. Hmm, too many options...

Never saw that before.  I'm liking it, seems to be quite a bit cheaper than the Asus transformer that I've been looking at for a while. Seems like it'll be able to handle some Photoshop too. Which is a huge plus. Though it might be a pain without a keyboard, but at that price I could afford to get a keyboard to go with it.

You can order the parts in single quantities, it'll just be a little expensive (less than a dollar each =P). The problem is that we don't know the correct values needed.

Hmm, try sending an email off to the manufacturer, if you still have the receipt, you might still be able to send it off to them for repair (if it's still in the warranty period). Won't hurt to give it a shot.

Oh, you were gonna buy the custom connector one that costs an extra $100?

You sure it wasn't because there was a different source, different amp, or different volume level? :p

I've heard from some audiphools that cables don't make as big of a difference on planars since they're a purely resistive load that doesn't vary in impedance whereas Sennheisers have varying impedance characteristics throughout the sound spectrum.

The engima is the one I'm talking about btw. Not sure how much I'm allowed to talk about it though; just know that it costs more than the Slant and LFF says it sounds better. :D

Yeah, they have some really good sales on them from time to time. The best one was Microsoft selling it for $100 right before Black Friday. If you're near an M$ store you can probably go in and play with one if you like. Personally though I liked the display on my Transformer Book T100 more and the fact it comes with a dock makes it more usable to me.

What? 1964 sells universal versions of their CIEMs?

Buying a good pair of speakers might make you question your headphones.....at least I really don't see a reason for myself to build up a desktop rig after buying myself some good speakers.

Episode 7? I still need to watch that one. Probably won't have time until Thursday though :/

Yeah, I'll see how many chapters it is.

Yep, you have to email them though. They said they are hand made though so they're only $25 less than the CIEM version. Seems good to me though because then I don't have to deal with impressions and $200 reshells every few years.

It really depends on what you mean by "good" speakers though. Frankly I can't be bothered to get powered monitors since I already have a power amp.

I'm also not really sure how much of an upgrade $300/pair speakers would be over my $65 speakers that retailed for $130 and were praised for being really good at that price. My receiver has a room equalizer thingy that basically transforms them from sennheiser-veiled junk to pretty "neutral" sounding (miceblue don't flame me here for saying that ).

That being said, the ARX A1b or whatever it is that @HybridCore mentioned a little while ago is tempting at $300/pair with planar tweeters.

For a tablet OS, Android > iOS > Windows RT > Windows 8(.1).

At the present time, Windows just doesn't scale very well on small high density displays, and the battery life kinda sucks. They also need fans and adequate ventilation. Windows RT is slightly better in this respect, but functionality is very limited.

Emulating Android on Windows would just generate more heat and drain the battery even more.

Finally fixed my iPod Classic's LCD! Now all I need to do is rebuild my music library from scratch and figure out how to play ALAC on it.
