Urgh, Android free navigation app are just not up to par to what I'm used to on my Symbian phone. True Nokia Maps on it is was actually Nokia putting its weight into mapping, so independent app developers relying on open source maps is no match, but really, must the search engine be so painful? Why can't it be just one search bar, instead of incrementally (decrementally?) search by country, then city, street... strangely it works differently for Malaysian address.

Was thinking so much of just getting a WP8 just for Nokia mapping and navigation suite. But then all those Humble Bundle Android games I have...

Yes I realize that comparing to say OsmAnd to Nokia Maps is unfair, since the latter is a huge company sponsored app, so maybe I should compare Nokia Maps to say Sygic or that TomTom app that's actually decent too, but holy hell the prices for the piecemeal in app purchases are going to rack up fast into nopenopenope territory.

Oh and "Do no evil" Google (while doing everything evil) sold Motorola Mobility to Lenovo for $3bil. So there's hope still for an international Moto X.

Google Maps Navigation seems pretty good to me. I start searching an address, and the one I want pops up in the top of the suggestions. It does its job, and I don't have to pay for it so I'm not complaining.

I could help you study if you want. Then again, doing so over Skype wouldn't be too efficient.

Thanks for the offer. But yeah, not very efficent, plus I'm the type of guy that relies and has to use shortcuts the teacher teaches :( I find that the way math majors or math -people do math problems is very hard for me to understand.

Windows style: Here, let me install all this schiit without much notice. And then let me wake you up to constant system crashing due to schiit stuff I installed and in where I thought I updated your drivers, but really just rolled them back

I was in bed last night when I realized just how 'close' the manga Oyasumi punpun hit and was similar to that situation I was in. I wasn't sad or anything in bed, nothing like that. But it was a moment when I realized that I was pretty much alone at University. I have few friends I can rely on here, and have been sitting in a room alone for the last 2 weeks.

Anyway, awesome dream last night. It was like ....CODE GEASS to the max in my dream. Except I was part of it. SO....MUCH WANNNT

Space Dandy is challenging my tolerance so hard =_=

...reading through the math and exam talks is giving me a illusion as if I am actually pretty smart lol

ok..... now that Apple Effed up my server with its stupid update, I'm prepared to switch to Linux / Unix with a fresh installation.

problem is.... which distro do I get???

Here's some of them I'm considering right now...

  • Linux:
    • Debian
      • Ubuntu
    • Slackware
      • openSUSE
    • redhat
      • Fedora
      • CentOS (I know my school uses this)
    • Arch
  • Unix:
    • FreeBSD

Decisions decisions.....

I haven't seen a bluescreen in years. I honestly can't remember the last time my Windows died/froze.

Hmmm Punpun was never really about loneliness IMO. He choose to be alone himself. Isolate himself.
You say that you have some friends there but why are sitting around all alone then?
The only thing I can relate to with Punpun is that

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
my father died a three years ago.

As you can guess by my username, I am a Linux expert.  My recommendation would be Ubuntu then install gnome-flashback.  That will give you a normal computer UI and give you a very usable computer out of the box.  FreeBSD is pretty hardcore, but less so recently.  I use it on older hardware and VMs mostly.  Pretty decent server, although, not quite up to the performance of Linux I enjoy the general stability of a minimalistic installation.

It's failing pretty badly at Symbian Nokia Maps does well: offline mapping. And no, caching is a pretty **** way to compensate.

Any thoughts on CentOS?

seems to be pretty popular for servers and I just found out my uni is a CentOS download mirror.

Yeah, it is good and well supported, but it is generally outdated unless you need something particularly stable.  One other upside to Ubuntu is that there is more noob friendly documentation and more packages for it.  With the PPAs, there is a lot of packages you won't find outside of something like Arch's AUR.  Just as a disclaimer, I am not much of a RPM based distro fan if you couldn't tell.

Thanks mate!
