Hi everybody,

im looking to set up a hi-fi system- i have a set of alesis m1 mk2 active speakers which I want to use as part of a new setup, unfortunetely these only have xlr inputs. iv been scouring the internet for an ipod/cd/tuner/pre-amp combo but have been unsuccessful so far. could anyone please advise on what i could do for the set up?

i was thinking of a pre-amp which would boost any inputs to to line out level to send to the speakers via rca to xlr cables but im concerned that i would not be able to control the volume of this system from this output (there is volume control on the back of each speaker but i would like to avoid using this in favour of a consolidated volume control). does line-out mean fixed level of output?

can anyone please advise? the only success story ive seen so far is through a sonos box http://forums(dot)sonos(dot)com/showthread.php?t=22199 but at that price id nearly scrap the speakers and spend about 500 on a new set up...

thanks a mil
