sound quality of 10vi's deteriorating?

hi folks,

i've had a pair of 10vi's for a couple years now.  I was blown away by the sound at first, but now they don't seem much better than other in-ears.  I've run the bass tests to make sure i'm getting a good seal: the bass is very faint even when i'm manually pushing the earbuds in to get a good seal (i can feel the vacuum - i'm sure i'm getting a good seal).  I'm wondering if some of the drivers have died or something.  Any ideas?  I'm thinking about just sending them in to logitech service to make sure.

thanks for any thoughts you might have to share!

Are the cables around the right way or have you done the flip mod?  I don't know about the 10vi but on the standard tripefi 10 it is possibe to reverse the polarrity if you put the cables on the wrong way, this would cause lows and highs to be fainter than normal.

Of coarse drivers could have faied, but check your cabling first.

Filters as well, extremely important since they don't have wax guards. if you don't clean it, wax can get into the drivers and cause damage and detoriate teh sound. don't send it back to logitech as tehy have discontinued the tf10s and u will get the ue700 as replacement.

thanks for the replies.  @some1 - i've never removed the cables.  right now, the "L" and "R" are on the inside (pointing towards the ear when worn).  I haven't mod'd them at all, and i wear them normally (ie, frankenstein style).

@rangerid: I've generally been good about cleaning the ear wax out, but some may still have gotten in there.  Is there any way for me to clean the filters myself?  Sucks that they discontinued the 10 series!  Is there any way I can get these things serviced, or am I SOL?  :-(

You should have the cleaner tool

@kimchee - i do have the cleaner tool, and i use it often.  The "filters" are just the two plastic holes in each earbud?  If so, then they're totally clean.
