Looking for an amp mainly for Grado, $200ish

Not for me but for a friend. He has a Grado RS2 but it is only driven by his sound card and ipod. I would like to buy him a nice one in the $200 range. I can spend a little bit more if it is worth it. I would like to find an amp that sounds great with Grados but also good with other headphones. I'm not sure what other headphones he would buy in the future.

I saw that one but it is slightly out of the budget I had in mind. A few questions though. What gain option did you go with? How long did it take to ship to you? Do they ship from Asia or are they stocked somewhere in the US?

David at Acoustic Fun suggested a gain of 3 for Grados.  He also said he would provide instuctions to change the gain if needed.

(Incidentally, my Little Dot I+ is plenty loud at 3.5 gain.  I never get above the 10 o'clock position on the volume knob.)

I ordered the HA-006++ Special Edition on the 5th.  It ships from Taiwan (probably 1 week to U.S.).  Mine had to be built for me and the last word was it is on the bench burning in.  I would guess that the standard HA-006's are ready to ship (except if you want the gain at 3).

If you are interested I would contact David and see what he can do for you.  He is very responsive to emails.

Here's a Sheer Audio HA-006 DynaLo review thread to push you over the edge bigsmile_face.gif
