Immersive gaming experience? DT 990?

Hello, I'm looking for some headphones that will be good for an immersive gaming experience. Not headphones that competitive gamers use to hear foot steps from miles away, but headphones that really give me a fun/immersive experience. (I will also use these for music too, and possibly movies).

I'm thinking of getting the Beyer Dynamic DT 990 Premium 600 OHM Headphones.

Along with the FiiO E9 Desktop Headphone Amplifier and Dock for E7 USB DAC.

And maybe the Astro Mixamp too, so I could get a surround sound feel, but I'm not sure. Would you recommend this?

I have seen tons of reviews on these, and pretty much all of them say it's a great headphone. So anyway, has anyone had experiences with these and tell me if they're good for what I want out of them? Or any other better ones I should look into? Thank you.

You probably read my assesment on them for gaming. I do love them off the E9 (especially on low gain), but they'd do better with a tube amp, as the E9 doesn't mask the heavily emphasized treble, which a lot of people don't like.

I'm sure you understand that the E7 isn't gonna be used if you use the Mixamp, right? I assume you need the E7 for PC use.

If you don't need the portability, I imagine the E10 would be superior to E7 in a Dt990 setup.  E7 + E9 + Dt990 would sound too harsh.  Maybe a warmer amp than E9 too...

Wait, I have to get the E7 if I want to use the E9 on the PC? I thought that was just something to use if you're on the go or using Ipods/whatever. (Sorry, I'm new to this thing as you can tell).

I do not need portability. Alright, I'll look into that. Thanks.

Is the e9 the best amp for these headphones anyway? Or is there any other amp I can look in to for around the same price range?

What about the Little Dot MKlll?

No, no it isn't. The E9 works, but I'm sure the Little Dots match up with the 990s better, since they'll tone down the katana sharp treble on the DT990s.

And you don't have to use the E7 with the E9 on PC, as long as your soundcard has a dedicated line out that you can feed to the line in on the E9. That is assuming you have a very good soundcard. If not, the E7 will be worth it.

I do not have a dedicated soundcard. I have a Gigabyte 890FX-UD5 motherboard.

This still works right?

So I should get the LD MKlll and the E7? (And not worry about the Astro mixamp). Is the LD MKlll worth the extra $65 opposed to the e9?

Edit: Hmmm, well after looking at tube amps, it seems you have to warm them up first, replace tubes every now and then, and it has a limited lifespan? Hmmmm, if this is going to be my first headphone set (I've used cheap earphones all my life), I'm not sure if I should go with the tube amp should I? I'm just a little scared I don't know exactly how to manage it and all that. Maybe I should stick with the e9/e7 or e9/e10? Unless they really aren't that difficult and you think it really is worth it.

Again, thanks for your help.
