Cans that have a BEATS sound but are better for ~$150?

I'm asking for my brother. I have Grado SR225i's... my brother listened to some Beats by Dre at Best Buy and said he likes how my headphones are really "clear" sounding, but he likes the bass on the Beats. I talked him out of getting Beats for now.

 

So, he's looking to spend $150 on some new headphones.

 

What can you guys recommend in his price range that are better than the Beats but still have good boomy bass?

 

 

 

 

P.S... he's a college baseball player so he's mainly looking for headphones to wear on the bus / plane to and from games or while he is waiting around. So either closed headphones or in-ear would probably be best.

 the xb700's are quite boomy and the bass is simply astonishing.

Are Sony headphones good? 

 

I have had Sony headphones in the past and they all sounded terrible. But they were relatively cheap.

+1 The Sony XB series pretty much Bests the Beats at their game because they have bass but don't suck.

the xb 700s have that loud bass u want.

 

u could also try dt 770 pros or shure srh750dj.

will it depnds on the model itself. 

the xb500 & xb700 are great for their price range.

The Ultrasone DJ or HFI580s... Those have very nice bass.  Maybe not boomy, but I find em stronger than my Sennheiser HD598.
