Mono price premium 3.5mm cables

Hello Head-Fi,

I'm wondering if anybody has tried their 22AWG copper cables. They're pretty thick and look to be high quality. I have ZERO experience with solder, so I figured replacing detachable cables with these might yield results?

I plan on buying an M-Audio Q40 and replacing the cable with this so it's shorter and maybe higher quality.

Any opinions?

Thanks

I've bought the exact cable (1.5 ft) and it is very thick and heavy to be any use with headphones. I would suggest to look at other cables, although I can't recommend any since I don't have any first hand experience.

Well I'll be stationary with the Q40s anyway. They have normal sized 3.5mm cables. I'll just buy both and see for myself.  SQ is the goal!

I would do Mogami, but I've never soldered nor do I have a soldering iron.

The one thing that might pose a problem for you in that the plug looks to be threaded for the jack in the headphones. With that said. the 22awg 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm from monoprice has a very large and obnoxious connector housing that might not be able to plug in all the way.

True. From what I've read, however, the cups can be opened and the threading is just a little insert that can be taken out very easily. It was actually directly on the M-Audio forum regarding finding replacement cables for the Q40. Some Russian guy, frustrated with the lack of customer support in Russia, opened the cup and realized it was a simple mod.

If anything, I'll just take a razor and strip a bit of the housing off. If all else fails, I can use it as the connection between my car and iPod. Ha.
