Would like some recommendations for some new headphones please.

I'll start off with the quick story of why I'm looking to buy a new pair. For the longest time I was using a pair of Sennheiser HD555's and loving them. My only complaint being that they where an open pair and I could hear my roommates through them. Their greatest feature in my opinion is the breathable cloth around the padding (so comfortable). When I needed a microphone for online gaming I got some Sennheiser PC's which had this sort of faux leather which caused my head to sweat. Both are great headphones which I used for a long time, that is, until Annie (My roommates cat) chewed through the cord of one and then the other pair of headphones.

So now I'm looking for a new pair with the following specs:

-Wireless or have a tough cord (my Razor Naga gaming mouse has this cool sort of cord that Annie has tried to get through but failed).

-Breathable cloth or comfortable padding.

-A microphone (detachable is a big plus because I want to be able to go portable with these as well as use them at home with my computer. Using them with my comp is more important than being portable though so the detachable is not necessary.)

-Closed sound canceling circumaural design.

-Price range of $300 or less.

-I remember watching a video a long while back where the person was talking about hertz range (=<7000). Here is a link:.

I was hoping to get something with a similar range. Although this would be just a bonus as I understand my list of requirements must be getting rather long by now.

I'm just asking for some advice, if this is the wrong place I'm sorry. Any help is appreciated! As you may have been able to tell I do not know that much about headphones to have such ridiculous requirements and am thus asking for professional help.)

The thing when they say 7hz or 27khz, it actually is all marketing baloney. You can't hear 7hz or 27khz, they're significantly out of the human hearing range. They just put that there so they can look like they have a bigger range, even if it doesn't matter in the least.  The bits that say 20hz to 20khz are completely useless bits of information about a headphone.

The cheap mic option is the Zalman clip-on mic. It's a standby for a lot of Head-Fi gamers. The next step up is the Antlion Attachable Boom Mic. It's much pricier at $33, but it is a lot classier looking and much more like a gaming headset.

As for the headphone itself, when it comes to listening to music, what are your favorite genres? Will you be using the headphones for trying to locate people in FPSes by sound?  Is portability important to you?

Thanks a lot for your reply. I listen to a lot of things (a common answer I'm sure.) Right now I like Nightwish and I've always been a huge Red Hot Chili Peppers fan. Locating people in an fps is a big plus, so is portability, but neither are crucial to my needs.

I will consider your recommendations.
