Closed Headphones + portable amp for around $300?

I've been looking to purchase some higher end closed headphones for long school sports trips. I have some Grados, but the lack of isolation is a nuisance to both me and those around me. My taste in music consists of mostly rock and some metal music. Lightest being Mumford & Sons, heaviest being A7x, Metallica and Bullet for my Valentine. Bass isn't a huge deal, though it needs to be present.

Unless a different one is absolutely necessary, a Fiio E7 is the highest I'll go amp-wise due to portability and budget. So any suggestions?

I'd have a few recommendations to give. Are you planning on spending $300 total, or just $300 for headphones, making it $380 total  if you add in the E7?

$300 total, although I'm willing to go over if absolutely necessary.

How portable of a headphone would you need for these trips? Would a full-size can be portable enough or not?

How about some HM5 while it's still on sale for only another day or two? Not heavy, but very full-sized.

Full-size is fine. I'm looking for portability in the amp and isolation in the headphones.

I think the Brainwavz HM5 (as mentioned above) would be a great fit. They're light, relatively easy to drive, and isolate noise pretty well. However, the headphones themselves are pretty large.

Those do seem to fit perfectly, although they are $100 under my budget. I would imagine there's a better albeit more expensive option. Unless of course, an E7 wouldn't be able to drive it.

Those HM5s have been compared to AD900 and HD600. They are bang for the buck. If you really insist, you can get FA-002W but don't expect delivery for a couple of months.

I'm thinking I'll be buying these. How is the size though? From what I can see, they are pretty large. I used to own some SRH440's, how do they compare to those?

SRH440s look pretty portable. HM5s are as big as HD600/650 but the cups are thicker.

FA-003 and HM5's housings are identical.
