Questions about the AKG Q701

that's about 200€ and on amazon the K701 are 258$ so then I thought I could buy the Q701 because I think they look much cooler and I like a detacheble cable.

 

Now my questions:

- does AKG have wordwide warranty? if not what to do if my headphone wil be broken or something.

- I am mainly going to use the Q701 for the genre's Hip-Hop, Electronic, Trip Hop etc... is it a good choice

- I am planning on using it with my iPod touch does is sound good?

- Also I want to use it for listening music on my computer (apple) and I allready have a Bose Companion III and I wondered if it is better to put the headphones directly into my Powermac G5 or through the speakers (with bult in amplifier)

I think it may be a big mistake to get the Q701 for these genres. Of course ambient music sounds amazing on the Q701, but anything that requires lots of bass would not be a good match for the Q701. The Q701 has the bass, but just not much bass impact at all. Listening to bass heavy music on the Q701 would make me sad

I wouldn't buy the Q701 for use straight out of the Ipod Touch or ANY portable device. They may sound acceptable, but it really needs a good desktop amp. Even out of a PC is not a good choice. I actually listen to an unamped Q701 once in awhile and it's not horrible.

The bare minimum for the Q701 is something similar to the E9. Even then it benefits from even better amps such as the Matrix M-Stage or Headroom Micro Amp.

Hip-Hop would be a bad choice on it. Maybe something like the Denon 2000?

The Q701 plays ok out of portable players but never reaches its full potentual as it a rather low sensitivity headphone and requires the power of an amp to give it some body and breath life into them and it has very little mid/upper bass but does have a very good sub bass. For portable use the fillo E11 gives it more than enough power and has two decent bass boost settings which give it the much needed mid / upper bass .

That said it is my favorite headphone for playing heavy metal ,death metal and symphonic metal out of my full size headphone setup with a bit of eq and the bass control turned full up the q701 can put out some thunderous bass while still maintaining its awesome detail retrieval in the highs and mids  .
