Just picked one up today and i can say i am not to pleased. Has anyone else tried it?

For those wondering i had purchased the beats pros for reviewing and returned them to pick up a tablet. Yes that's how damn expensive beats are.

Sound quality for the most part. Also i am still a little confused about android. I will get used to it eventually.

Yea sound quality through the jack is bad, I get pops & cracks every once in awhile too. But the speakers are actually surprisingly good. But it is a really good tablet for everything else, I was using an Ipad 2 and the thrive is almost as fast plus I like the menu system better. Plus i don't care what anyone says almost every embedded video uses flash and the thrive CAN play them.

Thumbs up for flash.

It's a good sturdy tablet overall.  The rubber backing is great and that's why the gf took it from me!  I feel safer w/her using that anyway as electronics have a way of slipping out of her hands!

2011 was the year of Tegra2 tablets so there's not that much to differentiate it spec-wise but the rubber backing and full-size SD/HDMI did it for me.  The SD card saved me in a pinch when we wanted to get pics from someone's digital camera.

I've also got a rooted B&N Nook, Viewsonic Gtablet, Asus W500 (running Windows 8) and multiple other laptops - the Thrive is used the most out of all of them (but mostly by her!)

I'm really starting to appreciate this tablet but it seems rather slow to me.

Have you tried alternative music players for Android?  I have read several reviews stating that the default player isn't the greatest.  Here are some alternatives:

Neutron - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.neutroncode.mp&hl=en

Poweramp - http://powerampapp.com/

Meridian - https://market.android.com/details?id=org.iii.romulus.meridian&hl=en

Rockbox - http://rasher.dk/rockbox/android/

Unfortunately I haven't tried any of these yet.  I have a Samsung Galaxy Player coming soon and will test all of these programs later.
