All Items of Hisound's products are 50% off as the Xmas gift - Page 8

After reading the 3 reviews on the Studio V,  I decided it would be a step-up vs sideways over the 601, and got the special deal.   Just before putting $ down to get it, I received a pm from a respected reviewer on head-fi  who didn't think the V was a good match with high sensitivity BA IEMs due mainly to hiss.

While my go to IEM is now the GR07, I am going to be receiving my custom JH5, which is a BA,  within a few weeks.   Based on this advice I have decided to not get the V.   He indicated the 601 should be a good match for my new customs.   Any feedback from you guys on Studio V with BA IEMs?

Well there is no point saying this here. There are dedicated threats to comment about the players' sound.

What you do here.. is saying your negative opinion (true or not) about the products of a seller who is offering us a great offer in this threat.

He's actually trying to shed some light on a potential problem between the Hisound players and BA armatures. It's better to find out about the issue and determine if the product is for you, instead of finding out about the problem later... I'll mainly be using my device with Dynamic drivers so I don't think I should have a problem. Generally BAs have issues with players with higher impedance output. Jack would you be able to post the impedance outputs of your products? Thanks

BTW I do have a pair of TF10s and will test them out on the Studio V to try and confirm the issue.

It does best with dynamic driver IEMs and portable headphones where it sounds very musical. With BAs it sounds rather lifeless and hisses like a barrel of snakes, even with the BA firmware. Actually, the BA firmware really doesn't help much with the hiss but sucks the musicality out of the sound. The RoCoo Power, which I just received seems better but I haven't had much time with it yet due to Christmas activities."

I am listening to the Studio V now with my Westone ES5 and there has been no hiss at all.

The sound is flat and neutral but is not lifeless. The lack of musicality could easily be confused with sounding dull and lifeless. Those looking for warm and euphoric type of sound, this DAP may not be for you.

So far, I find the Studio V to be very accurate and detailed sounding - I could hear everything in the manner I mixed them and the low level details could be heard clearly.

On a side note, the bundled earphone sounds pretty good with the DAP. It is a little uncomfortable to wear though due to its size but I could have easily live with the DAP as well as its bundled earphone had not it been for its size.

Didn't wish to say all these till a later stage when I get a more accurate picture of everything when the DAP is fully burnt in  but I felt the need to correct certain misconception. Perhaps the problem existed with the earlier batch of Studio V. No idea.

JH16 is

  • Input Sensitivity: 118dB @ 1mW
  • Impedance: 18 Ohms

Westone ES5 is

  • Input Sensitivity: 120dB @ 1mW
  • Impedance: 20 Ohms

I don't have a problem with ES5 and I don't foresee any with JH16 either.

I realize pms and others opinions are frowned upon here and may have made a mistake posting another member, but I assure you that I wasn't trying to boost my ego or discredit the product or the great deal, just to pass on what I received so others might benefit or have more information.   I definately will not pass on what others have said again, lesson learned.

However, its good to hear no problems with the ES5 or none anticipated with the JH16.

Uelover, could you give a brief review with the JH16's and the V?  I might still get it after all.  Thanks!

Not quite sure if UElover is saying that he/she (lol?) owns a pair of JH16s. It could just be a comparison between the ES5 as they are both BA (and you would think all BA would exhibit issues if the impedance is high on the Studio V). If anything the issue your friend was having could be synergy related. The hissing issue could be a personal issue as well as some people blow it way out of proportion when compared to the hiss from the ZO2 V1 which really had a hissing issue until revised.

I am a he. Lol.

Yup lee you interpreted correctly. I don't own a pair of Jh16 and from the specs difference between JH16 and ES5, I don't expect the JH16 to hiss with the current model of Studio V DAP. I can't say the same to previous batches since I have not heard them before.

I am a person who can't stand hisses either even if they are very mild.

Well I am able to hear hiss on my 601 and even on the Sflo2 when I had it, but its such a low hiss that I actually have to concentrate to hear it(with no music at all) so when music is playing its not audible at all, even on low passages. Now if I can hear it on low passages then I'd be POD :p

Here is a detailed and full review by SolidVictory  on ROCOO P and JH 16.

By the way, Studio-v and ROCOO P share the same platform . So, the compatible with BA earphones are similar.

How different/similar are the Studio-V and ROCOO P? Is the golden crystal the best iem that you would recommend with them?

HI, Uelover

It is hard to say the sound difference of STUDIO-v and ROCOO P, for they have different sound signature, Studio-v is more suitable for the "serious"music genres.such as the accoustic, classic. While ROCOO P is good at the "modern music" genres. such as the ROCK or POP.

Their name have implied their sound characters.

Golden Crystal is our flagship IEMs at current. It has very good compliant features with our players. for our players and earphones are featured with the neutral sound signature.

But I don't said Golden Crystal is the best combo with STUDIO-V or ROCOO P. For our players can let many earphones performance with their potential.

I would like the opportunity to buy the v at 50% off. I am getting into head fi and just got my first good full headphones. I will hopefully get a V for myself for my Bday which is soon to come! Thanks for the consideration.
