Ultrasone Pro 900 - What else do I need?

Hey all!

I'm looking at grabbing a pair of Ultrasone Pro 900's (or something else you'd suggest) but I've only got a ****ty laptop to use them with, and I want to build a setup to use them to their full potential. I'm completely new to the actual technology and setups but I think my ears are quite used to separating proper quality from mumbly ***** :)

My focus is mainly on getting the intricacies of bass-heavy dubstep like Zed's Dead, Electrocado, Pretty Lights, etc, .

I don't just want loud (i.e. generic ******** dubstep like Flux Pavilion), I want to hear the subtleties, the clearly separated bits that you only hear jumbled in when listening on normal headphones.

So yeah, I'm going to use these on my laptop for movies and music (is iTunes a dirty word in the audiophile world?), and my Xbox.

What kind of gadgetry should I be hooking up to have some phenomenal quality happening?

Muchthanks in advance!

What would be your budget $$$ for a DAC/amp to use with your laptop?

$300-400 I guess?

I'm honestly only used to owning a "headphones to 3.5mm cable to iPod" type setup, but I do value high quality audio, I've just never owned some of it myself :)

Perhaps you want something more "portable"?

I just realised that I'm also looking to get some speakers+sub for my room as well as the pro 900's, all to run off either the xbox or my laptop.. would it be better/possible to combine the entire setup into one, and manually switch between using the speakers and headphones?

Has anyone done this?

Getting excited, I can taste the bass already C:

Thanks guys!

Get just a good quality vintage receiver (Marantz, Kenwood, Pioneer, etc) and plug your headphones into that, AUX to computer, and than your good. Some receivers have such good headphone outs that they surpass $500+ headphone amps.
