So that would be "resolution/sample rate" right? To tell you the truth, I can find that info on the DACs I'm looking at but I have no idea what the quality of the songs are on my computer. The only thing I can find is the bitrate ranging anywhere from 128kbps to 320kbps

As a general rule: CDs are 16/44 and vinyl needledrops are 24/96 if you dont got those, don't concern yourself with the usb speed

So would this be a 16/44 unit? It's only $25 bucks. I guess you get what you pay for but I do not have any vinyl needledrops therefore it

s probably not a big deal at the moment and probably fine for my first DAC, correct?

Also, I decided to pop on a Little Dot Mark III Tube amp. Thanks for the suggestion. You've seriously been a huge help. beerchug.gif

Congrats on the purchase! It's the slippery slopes from here on. tongue.gif

Anyways, for Grados, as they are not especially hard to drive, getting a decent DAC will help more than an amp, however the LDMK3 should future proof you should you decide to get better headphones.

Anyway, little dot makes a DAC that will make a terrific stack with your amp AND excepts USB, you should check it out sometime, when upgraditis strikes. L3000.gif

That was the thinking behind the purchase. Thanks!

Yeah, thanks again. I'll def keep that in mind in the future. Right now, I'm going to have to start with a pretty cheap DAC, maybe the next upgrade will involve a better DAC and a new set of cans? Who knows smile_phones.gif

Yeah, so, while I was researching all of this stuff, I came across a portable DAC that looked nice (there's a video on the front page of head-fi right now about it) but it was way out of my range at $579.00.

Anyway, for some reason I decided to check out their Facebook page and saw they were doing a giveaway, entered and [somehow] won.

So, I'm soon to be a new owner of an AlgoRythem Solo by Cypher Labs. Pretty pumped about this. I'll give my thoughts in a few weeks once I've given it a fair amount of usage.

Yeah I was actually wondering that myself. It has a USB port. Wonder if it will work with a standard Mac/PC USB as well as the iDevice stuff.
